Why Bandos?

In my opinion the best answer to your question:

Everyone gets bandos because everyone consider Bandos as the best armour. Contrary to other MMORPG's, it's pretty strange Runescape is the only one (as far as I know) where everyone wants the same armour: if you melee you need fury, slayer helm, bandos, whip, dfs, barrow gloves, berserker ring, dragon boots. If you range you need armadyl, fury, rune crossbow, broad bolts, barrow gloves, ranger boots, archer ring. Etc etc.

I agree in RS there's little to few strategy needed but still people usually don't consider other armour than the considered best armour to train with. Like 75% of the people I see turmoil all the time at slayer tasks wear bandos armour, even if in this case verac should be the way to go.

So in my opinion it's just bought because it's considered the best, rather than actually being the best. What we need is armour with special effects so every armour should be used at another situation.

Bandos?

Torags?

Porche?

Volvo?

Hmm.... #-o

You... make perfect sense. Amazing analogy.

Back on topic, if I ever got Bandos, it would be because it looks cool. If I ever have the money to throw around, I'd probably buy it.

Barrows is fine until then, though. ;-)

I was never one to buy armour for the stats, I always bought cuase i thought i looked good, which is why I bought bandos over barrows.

Only barrow sets I like the look of are Karil and Ahrim's, neither are used for melee..

I'll stick with my bandos, even if its worse that barrows :ugeek:

I don't know which mod did this. I don't know why they did it. If they're looking for money, I can tell them I don't have any as I'm a student. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over 4 years of RuneScape. Skills that I have worked hard for and people like them can't take them away. If they give me my particles back now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for them, I will not pursue them. But if they don't, I will look for them, I will find them, and they won't like what'll happen

I am quite happy with my torag legs and body, that i got for 300k ea, thank you.

They were cheap, they look nice and they have good defence. Thats all i need.

Karils: Used for when needed mage defense such as at waterfiends and other monsters like that, also useful in GWD when needing magic def as a top.

Ahrims: Used in pking, i used it in CW to burst/barrage ppl then attack with ags (ya im a pk wannabe, but its still fun lol).

But, the best thing to do for turmoil/soul split is to have either Prosy top and prosy bottom, or verac's skirt if you need the def, and just use prayer on the task. The ability of soul split gets rid of the need for food on most slayer tasks and turmoil makes the killing go faster.

Bandos is more of a luxury item, and i agree 100% with what stonewall said in that list he made.

No. It will NOT be cheaper. You would have to spend something in the area of 7,000 hours in combat with bandos to save the money that repairing barrows would cost.

Actually, assuming constant prices, bandos costs 0 gp to use. Following the general trend, you *make* money by using bandos because you can sell it after using it for the same price, if not higher.

You can sell barrows for the same price as well, but you have to pay for degrading costs.

However, that assumption is intrinsically flawed. One can not assume a stable price with bandos. Thus that argument is invalid. Things such as d axe vs. rune axe that argument works, if one assumes the use of time saved instead of money spent on repairs.

Now, if you are very careful about when you buy/sell, you *could* break even or profit, but you can't just assume that this will happen. New armor might come out, etc etc.

Some people say that spending the money on prayer pots and cannon balls for faster slayer training, if you wish to slay, and you will be gaining even more advantage in speed then bandos gives. However, while that is true, you can get at least some of what you spent on bandos back when you sell.

Bandos can be better than barrows in some aspects, but I really don't think it should be a priority. If you have the money for bandos, it would be better spent getting turmoil and overloads and a high summoning level. However if you already have all of those and still have the cash for it, I don't really see a problem :P

Bandos looks cool to most people, it also shows off wealth. As for people not caring if it degrades i hate that barrow's degrade. mostly in the situation of camping some where. Say for example, because i can't think or a melee spot other than spiders. karils vs amradyl. Yes i know it different combat type, but karils degrade's and camping at anvasies is gonna degrade your karils, while if you had full armadyl and a dfs, you have equal if not better stats, and there no need for banking or needing to stop bc ur armour have completly degraded. you might disagree but you can actually camp at anvsies for an entire week before ever banking. although is it cheating to trollhilem tele once or twice ot grab summon points? i bring full armadyl dfs fury ranger boots, basiclly i bring armadyl gwd dungeon gear, but with b2p spell and alchs and 10 titans 2k titan con. srolls. only real reason on rare cases i dislike barrows armour. if i slay i like to bring bandos and guthans to heal. just becasue im lazy to house tele and use my repair stand. and as a few people said before, if price's were frozen and you resold the armour after bandos or dragon cost nothing, while using barrows you pay for the repair cost.

Admittedly, I bought Bandos because it looks good... and has nice stats. Barrows is better, yes, but I like the Strength bonus Bandos gives too. Plus, I had the money. D: And it's actually increased in price by about 14m since I bought it, so I'm happy.

Really though, get Barrows if you mostly care about stats. Much, much cheaper, so you can use the money for skills.
