So.. Basically all this tells us is that Mod Raven will be the lead designer behind this years Halloween event, which is going to be in 6/7 months time.. Perfect.

 

In the mean time i'm going to twiddle my thumbs waiting for the graphics department to hurry the [bleep] up with FTP3..

 

Considering that it's the *4th* graphical rework I'm sure they're as tired of it as we are of waiting for it. Luckily it's just the graphics for the quest and the one for Zanaris are already done.

 

No, the underlying subtext of this devblog was that FTP3 wont be coming out until after the graphics for the Halloween event are done. :wall:

Pretty lousy blog to be honest. Previous blogs were longer, had artwork/pictures, and actually revealed future content that would be coming out. This was more of a forum post than a dev blog...

These aren't BTS's people.

 

Though honestly I wouldn't mind if they actually revealed some of the future content to us. I mean they say they don't want to hype the new skill, but you don't have to tell anyone WHAT the skill is to hype it. They're saying the skill will be totally original and awesome, and when it comes out, if it isn't like that people are going to moan just as much as they did with summoning. What they really need to do is to be straightforward with people about what state the skill will be in after the release instead of being so damned enthusiastic about it. I mean it should be obvious that a new skill will have issues to work out after release based on feedback, but for some people I guess you have to spell that out. In any case you can never eliminate all whining, because you really can't please everyone.

They're meant to be a replacement for BTS and honestly they're total crap as a substitute.

 

I do agree though that they need to be more honest with us and stop treating us like we're 12.

I feel like sometimes Jmods try too hard to be funny. It's always a struggle to get past the corny joke-laden intro to actually read the blog post.

 

What I want to do this year is go even further than we did last year and build on what the players fed back to us during the event. .... What we do on a day-to-day basis helps shape our future plans, be that reading ideas on certain updates to the game that would make life easier for clans, to reading the latest topic from one of our off-site clans on what more we could do to support them.

Ya know what.... I don't actually care about a pointless update in October which should only be a supplementary distraction from the main game. Why do they waste their time on a Dev Blog for something like this, opposed to the new dungeon, high level smithing update or dare I say it... the new skill?

 

And what makes any of your suggestions more enjoyable for players/useful for Jagex, than a bit of time being dedicated to a fun, usually goofy holiday event? Yes, they tend to be childish, but where's the fun in it if they aren't?
