Skeptical
I would like to train my herblore up, preferably only spending a couple mil, while minimizing time. I'm level 60, and am open to buying and collecting. I do farm quite a number of herbs per week, but obviously it's a slow way to collect them. Fire away, and thanks in advance for the help. "Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security." Aiel
cleaning herbs is going to be the only "cheap" way to do it. this wiki page shows xp:gp for most potions though. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Potions DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers ringsQBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow partsCR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size....It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty). SirIzenhime
YOu could make the Magic Essance potions from the Fairy Tale part 2 quest. You get your own items for it, so it's technically free. The only problem is it's not exactly fast :P. It's only cheap. iDr
If you're only looking to spend a couple mil from 60 herblore, don't. Not worth it, since you probably don't have much to spare and that couple mil won't do squat for you in terms of benefits from leveling herblore. Get more money then do it. You can use a wireless mouse, do homework or watch tv, and click the mouse looking at the screen every 1 minute.I'm not trolling you to start with. It's very poor as a way to train herblore. I would NEVER consider collecting it if I weren't fletching bolts or alching or humidifying or something at the same time. Another thing: herblore is not 30gp/xp. It's 25gp/xp with the best potion methods. That makes collecting nightshade about 870k/hour. Here are two better alternatives: Cleaning Dwarf WeedsXP gained in one hour: 98k (worth 2,450k)GP gained in one hour: 1,400kOne hour of this saves you 2.25 hours of nightshade gathering, and about 0.15 hours of weapon poison making. Since you can make 1.4m with this method, we'll assume you can make at least that much, or a total of 3,360k. But you forgo the 870k/hour of nightshades.Total "profit" over nigthshades: 6,340k/hour BETTER than nightshades. Making Extreme Ranging potions:XP gained in one hour: 600k (worth 15m)GP gained in one hour: -15mOne hour of making these bad boys saves you 19 hours of nightshade gathering. Assuming you make 1.4m/h as stated above, this method saves you 26.6m/hour. However, you forgo the 870k/hour of nigthshades.Total "profit" over nightshades: 25.7m/hour BETTER than nightshades So nightshades suck. Yes, you can gather them while watching TV. But when I play runescape I want to PLAY it, not watch TV and click on a mouse. It's not my job, I want to enjoy it. Plus these methods are just SO much better. Oh, and here's a few things that make 3k per click (although this is a horrible measure of how good something is for money lol):Green DragonsBlue DragonsRed DragonsBlack DragonsBronze DragonsIron DragonsSteel DragonsAbyssal DemonsTeam ArmadylTeam BandosTeam ZamorakProbably even soloing these bosses or even Saradomin or TDs. qeltar
Arguing about super weapon poisons is pointless -- whether it is a good method or not depends entirely on your priorities. It comes down to whether you have something else to do during the downtime; if so, it's a decent method, if not, it's a waste of time. Either way, it's a very slow method for getting Herblore XP. Herb cleaning is a very unreliable technique, because even small swings in the prices of clean and grimy herbs can turn it from proiftable to unprofitable. It's also very tedious. Herb cleaning is a very unreliable technique, because even small swings in the prices of clean and grimy herbs can turn it from proiftable to unprofitable. It's also very tedious. Herb cleaning can only be done effectively with stable prices. What I usually do is:-- Use a herb that I wouldn't mind keeping (i.e. avantoes or dwarf weeds for extremes)-- Buy 1K-- Clean 1K-- Sell 1K-- Repeat This way, you don't risk losing that much per cleaning cycle, and even if you can't sell back the herbs you're okay because you'll end up using them anyway. And when I mean 3K per click I meant, there's almost nothing else that you can directly click and earn money for. All those things you listed require more attention than just clicking the same spot. Skeptical
Thanks for all of the info guys. I do have about 60 mil in cash and additional liquid assets, but I would really prefer to not have to spend massive amounts of gold on gettting only a few herby levels. I tried buying and cleaning herbs, but the constant clicking drove me insane. Is there a general consensus on what method is best, that will not involve cleaning massive numbers of herbs? Unknown_Warrior
Nightshade gathering can also be done whilst farming.Once a day, I do an advanced farm trip. A normal trip of mine constitutes of just browing all the herb patches. But on the advanced one, I visit all fruit trees, bushes, the cactus and my belladonna as well whilst using a Giant ent. Granted, this may not be a lot of Nightshade, but it adds up over time.I consider it an extra. qeltar
There is no consensus. It is all a trade-off and you have to decide what is more important to you: training speed or training cost. I have a detailed guide on the member's side of my site that computes various options on a daily basis, but it is too complicated to summarize here. If you give a better indication of what you're willing to spend, I can make some suggestions.
