March 31, 201016 yr I don't think prosecution was overboard, it's the tagging and criminal record that are way out of left field. A warning/fine would have been more than sufficient. "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti

A warning/fine would have been more than sufficient.I don't really get the curfew either..I wonder if they think she's out on the streets at night, dealing goldfish with local youths? Saw this on the news and lol'd. I understand why they have the law, but a goldfish seems a bit... insignificant. They should have tried something a bit more of an actual pet. Feel a bit sorry for the woman though, but if she'd gone to prison it would have been hilarious. 'What are you in for?' 'Selling goldfish.' I edit for the [Tip.It Times]. I rarely write in [My Blog]. March 31, 201016 yr I don't understand the law at all. You can buy small goldfish for a quarter here and then feed them to whatever pet you have that eats goldfish (turtle). Anything other than a fish, sure. C'mon. On a somewhat related note, I'm not allowed to even come in contact with a dog at a pet store because I'm under 18, but I can get a job at that pet store and my job would be to take care of them. That's stupid in my opinion. [bleep] the law, they can eat my dick that's word to Pimp
March 31, 201016 yr Just goes to show you that idiotic laws exist everywhere. On an unrelated note, I have noticed that several posts have referenced to dogs being in pet stores. If you want a dog DO NOT buy from a pet store, at least if you're in the US. The reason is that they are usually from Puppy Mills, a place where dogs are bred en-mass and live in horrible conditions(this is also illegal). As such the puppies/dogs born there are usually very ill, or have some horrible disorder that was easily preventable. If you want a dog adopt one from the pound, buy from a reputable breeder, or get one from a farmer(If you're in a rural area and the opportunity presents itself) giving them away for free. Also, if a pet store tries to tell you that their dogs are from a reputable breeder, don't trust them. No reputable breeder would ever sell to a pet store seeing as they can easily make more money selling them on their own. If you choose your beliefs/lifestyle simply based on what your parents want, then you are a weak minded individual and are not even worthy of calling yourself a person.

March 31, 201016 yr Happens quite often here. It doesn't mean it is right, it just shows us how horribly put together our legal system is. Steam | Soup | Last.fm
March 31, 201016 yr What a blow for her. Those crazy British and their crazy laws. She should move to America, our "Tea Parties" are much more fun.
March 31, 201016 yr I don't know. Is this from the Sun? It started off pretty biased towards the shop seller. It seems that she was cutting some corners in her shop, what with the dying bird and not asking kids for their age or even telling them how to take care of their newly bought pet. It's common sense to tell people what to feed them, isn't it? I will agree that this punishment is too harsh.
April 3, 201016 yr The goldfish was later adopted by an animal welfare officer and is in good health. Its a goldfish, they don't live for more than a week or so. This entire event was waste of time and money, and i thought the American justice system was messed up. My goldfish turned 13 a few weeks ago. Even so, this entire story is rediculus. House arrest and a 1500 dollar fine is just plain stupid as a punishment for selling a goldfish to a minor.
