01-Apr-2010 - RuneScape Theme Park COMING SOON!

Featured Replies

I hope this is a bad joke, and i also hope that this bad joke does not encourage Jagex to do a stupid thing like this. I realize it's April's fools day, but i can't avoid thinking Jagex might consider this kind of [cabbage].

Doesn't this just prove that they are definitely NOT thinking of doing a theme park kind of thing?

Yes, it CAN prove that. But if alot players voted on the poll and say "YES", there is a small chance Jagex could consider it.

:l

For your sake, I hope you aren't serious.

I am serious. Most things are possible. Jagex sells stuff in their shop, clothes, mousepads, etc...and they also are making books. Though a Runescape theme park seems "WTF", if alot of the Runescape players support it, it can be possible. Besides, most players SEEM to be under age of 18.

The cost of creating and maintaining a theme park is far greater than that of maintaining an online store. I don't think they would even make a real life store, even if they had more than enough money to pillow themselves in case it didn't work out at all. This is simply a joke and the players that are supporting it are not supporting the notion of actually creating a theme park, but are supporting the fact that it would be hilarious if Jagex did do it. I'm willing to bet an orphan that Jagex are not planning to release a theme park; at least not within the next twenty years.

I just said it's possible. But not within next twenty years, that i agree with you.

Why would it be impossible in the near future?

A third party could cough up the funds for Jagex (however they are pretty loaded themselves considering the profit margin they took in the last years) in return for a part of the profit.

Jagex provides the ideas and holds the licenses, the other party provides the cash. This has been done in other fields numerous times, for example an author of a book that sells his rights to a producer to make a movie.

In my personal opinion I think that Jagex takes little advantage from the fantasy world they created. The online shop is a joke compared to the merchandising other (even less popular) games have.

I'm just too embarrassed to use RS items irl.

Also: that'd be an epic theme park.
