Kidd_Varrow
Ok, normally I'm not the type to rant, but this has happened so much lately that it's seriously ticking me off. I'm trying to train my firemaking using the backlighting method at the GE. Apparently, people now think it's funny to light fires right in front of me or plant flowers wherever I go so I can't light any fires. Is there any way I can report them or something? D. V. Devnull
Try using "Disruptive Behavior" as a rule to report them under, after having a non-offensive chat with the offender in an attempt to get them to go away. What you're experiencing is something called "Griefing", and is universally wrong all over the internet. If they don't go away, and you've reported the offender after all that, Jagex should nail them, because you'll have provided proof of the offender's disruptive behavior. Have fun, and good luck at putting an end to what those people are doing to you. :) ~D. V. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
Obtaurian
If you get really good at backlighting (I've never seen heard of it being referred to by that name before), you can completely avoid their fires and flowers. Yeah, they COULD bomb the entire GE with flowers, but what are the chances? You can skip a pretty big number of squares without losing any time. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off. Aiel
I prefer to firemake in large circles, using the minimap to move, I find its more effective and consistent then "backlighting" DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers ringsQBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow partsCR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size....It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty). schmuall
The argument is, that many people lag around the ge as it is and loads of people firemaking only makes in worse. Tbh, I don't even see why you would want to train firemaking there, there are many equally as good spots, made even better due to the lack of this kind of activity. give F2P a penny and they want a dime; give P2P a quarter, they want 100,000 dollars, your car, house, boat, social security number, credit card numbers, drivers license, clothes on your back and everything you ever owned or interacted with ever

This. Find another spot if you really want to firemake.
jamesrules90
I enjoy disrupting firemakers.:) If you click on them they hatch or grow up faster and look awesomer!!!87.5% of all statistics are made up on the spot. If you're one of the 42% of statistics that doesn't, copy and paste this into your sig. In addition, 126.324% of the previous statement does not make sense. Bob_the_Mailman
The best place to train it is probably the FoG lobby. I used to train it at the Gee, but people would come and light fires along my lines so I would light a fire directly behind where they were firemaking. They eventually got bored and left. 450x200 is not a big enough space in which to fit anything more meaningful than a rubber duck wielding a stick. Lacoste
Yeah, it's a shame that people do that to waste your time. You can't report them, it's not an offence. They do it for one reason: FunSo have fun annoying them somehow like spamming trade offers, following them, requesting assists then just standing there doing nothing, interupt their interupting you by moving south a bit. :PHope this helped.Yeah, that's a great way to handle the situation  naaaaaaaaaaaat

Kidd_Varrow
Well what I've decided to do is wait until it's not peak time so I don't have lag and then move around anyone who gets in my way while continuing to light fires. I've managed to have some success with this and enjoyed foiling their schemes.

CaJ
I did most of my Firemaking at Edgeville. Usually had one other person lighting fires but it really wasn't that bad.
Grogthurk
I use the GE for Fletchery despite it not being a one-click bank. Why? I simply don't have the funds to buy everything I need to just hit 99. I have to buy in bulk of set amounts. When I decide to do firemaking, it will most likely be the same situation because I am always poor as bricks. Also, just hop worlds, or buy as much as you can and go back when you need moar.
