Slaykan
I've seen alot of people that don't have anti fire shield or dragonfire shield run through a group of greens or blues and pray mage, what exactly does that do? Good Timber does not grow with ease, the stronger the wind, the stronger the trees. There is dignity in suffering, nobility in pain, but failure is a salted wound, that burns over and over again. Zephy
It lowers the chance of getting horribly burnt by dragonfire, somewhat. Still quite a bad idea, though.I'm not entirely sure on this, but I do remember it working once. Disclaimer: The above is probably inaccurate. gorofujita
Lessens the damage from the dragonfire breath. If you don't have your filter on it says "your prayer protected you from some of the dragon's breath" in the chat thing.
12pure34
It lowers the damage from the fire breath by a bit. A few things help against the breath:Antifire pots and super anti fire potsAnti dragon breath shield. A combination of the antifire pot + shield = 100% protectionThe super anti is 100% protectionThe magic prayer lowers the hit, but isn't worthwhile to act as active protection. It is sometimes used at the King Black Dragon tough.

TeamRealT
When i didnt have fairy rings, or ferocious ring and had to run pasta the brutal green drags i would put mage protect on. It kept it from hitting very high, so the damage taken was really not noticable. In other words: We got a ban hammer in varrock mines. It's jackin yo [censor] bots, slappin yo macros up, tryna ban em, so ya'll need to hide yo scripts, hide yo clicks, and hide yo logs cause they bannin errbody up in here. PereGrin
Mage pray only works on regular dragonfire. It does not work against the ranged breath that brutals and metals have. If you stand next to a brutal or metal, the mage prayer will protect you from the dragon fire. Mage prayer also has the same effect as the Anti-dragonbreath shield. It reduces damage by the same amount, just doesn't work against ranged dragonbreath

You can range them with magic prayer and regular antifire potion, without the antifire shield, and take no damage at all. quit
Cptbaker08
While in Dungeonerring Floors, using this option is great. It's like using the regular shield and no protection potions on other dragons.
