This test annoys me too mcuh, since after a word you can't backspace :(

This test is exeedingly annoying because if you miss a word or add an extra character between spaces, the entire rest of your test is wrong. However..

This type of test brings in the question, though.. how do we define typing speed? In sprint-type tests such as these? I think a better test would typing maybe 10 pages and seeing how long it takes you to type them, and make sure to discount any time spans of inactivity > .5 seconds or so.. or maybe do a sprint-type test first to see how long it usually takes you between characters, then discount spans longer than twice that, or something.

Also make sure you have different tests for different types of keyboards.

Yeah. I'd say my average is 60 WPM, once I know the words I must write :P (same parameters as the first poster)

*walks off and does this to a wall: :wall: *

I can type about 200 WPM, no mistakes. But if I use a real language, like English (which is the only one I know), I remember getting fairly high in Keyboarding class (8th grade). I was #1 in the class with about 56 WPM with no mistakes. But I've greatly improved. I could probably pull off a good 80 WPM with I'd say around 90% accuracy. Too lazy to check for sure though  .

This topic was bumped from being very old. This is allowed in the case of an interesting, well thought out post - but, I don't think there is much to be said about typing speeds in general.
