rumour about chaotic weapons

Featured Replies

A friend just claimed to have gone from 90% charge to 72% charge in just 200 CT dagannoth kills

perhaps chaotic weapons degrade each time you are attacked?

I never noticed, rather never really bothered paying attention, during my slayer tasks since i just assumed that the weapon drained by each attack you performed.

I'm off to test this real quick, but if anybody could corroborate this data, that would be awesome

Naaxi.png

I've done a few tasks under lighthouse and on CT nechs and didn't notice my rapier degrading any faster

Rumour confirmed

i had auto retaliate off and let myself get spammed by attacks

the weapon degraded

getting hit degrades chaotic weapons

(still don't know if attacking and not getting hit degrades the weapon or not)

That's disappointing to say the least, weapon flash anyone?

Would you still consider the weapons worth it OP?

I wouldn't use them at cannoning mutated bloodvelds, lighthouse dagannoths, or aberrant spectres anymore hehe :P

but in all honesty, very few slayer monsters involve multicombat, especially with kuradal these days

So i say it's worth it.

I helped discover something about a new item! I feel special now.

Heh heh, thanks again for doing further testing Morionic. =D>

I still say its worth it at Mut Velds, as they don't have a range/mage attack that can hit you. With dags/spectres you can have 6+ monsters attacking at once, while at velds only 3-4 can fight around you less if you position yourself near a wall or table.

That's a bit of a bummer for solo god wars and dks, but thanks for finding this out.

yeh long degraded sorta fast in bandos =p

How barrows weapons work is that they degrade while you're in combat, not only while you're attacking. I'd expect chaotic weapons to work in this same way. What does surprise me, though, is that these weapons degrade faster if you're getting attacked by more opponents. Can you prove that this is the case?

not anytime soon, i'll be in without a computer for the weekend

my friend claimed that his weapon degraded faster in combat with multiple enemies though, so it seems likely.

As it says very clearly in the KB the chaotic weapons last for 10 hours of combat from 100-0 charge. The fact you think combat is you using the weapon is very misguided, of course combat is any fighting whether you are being attacked or you are attacking. As far as the multiple enemies theory, with my chaotic long i have used it on a number of situations and notices NO change to the charge decrease rate. It is all about when you are in combat or not and if your holding the wep or not simple as that.

first off, what do you define "in combat" to be

being attacked? attacking? or both

It's not as clear as it seems. If we're attacked, we can't log out for 10 seconds because we're considered "in combat"

but if we attack someone, but don't get attacked bag, we can still logout without a 10 second timer.

ultimately we'd have to test both scenarios anyways.

so on the to do list:

show whether or not the weapon degrades when being attacked by multiple enemies

show whether or not the weapon degrades if you attack, but don't get retaliated against

and I'll work on it, but like I said, I'm off to Canada for the weekend.

I'm the one that noticed this. I did 3 slayer tasks with my rapier, 72 steel dragons, 167 nechryaels, and 181 greater demons. In those 3 tasks my rapier went from 100% to 90%. Then I was assigned 201 dagganoths and went to the CT to kill them. In the time that I killed 201 dagganoths, the rapier went from 90% to 72%, so it clearly is affected by the number of monsters that are attacking you at the time. It may however, be something Jagex did not intend to have happen, and they just don't know about it yet. We can only hope anyways. <_<

rhetorical question <_< I was trying to make a point if you'd read the rest of my post.

Naaxi.png

-has read-

I don't get the rhetorical part.

Anyways, I think that if it does degrade faster with multiple monsters on you, that it was unintended, I would suggest submitting a big report if tests prove this to be true.

so go test and do that, because I won't have the time.

I collected some data I though people would like to know.

I'm sorry that it was too obvious for you.

If you've collected data already, why not submit a bug report?

I'm not trying to bash or start anything...I'm being completely serious

because i don't know that multiple monsters attacking you drains the weapon faster yet.

like I said, I haven't tested that part yet.

secondly, jagex has never fixed any bugs i've reported, ever

I've submitted 4 bug reports on a bug with the platypus that can be exploited to prevent players from being hit when they are attacking from a range over the course of 2 years

Jagex never fixed it for the platypus, even though they did for other pets.

Naaxi.png

I just sent in a bug report, seeing as how I'm the one that witnessed this. I guess all we can really do now is wait. (And try to avoid multi-combat situations with your Chaotic weapons.)
