IT'S LIKE I'M REALLY LISTENING TO THE BACKSTREET BOYS, KOREAN GIRLS EDITION!!!

Haha, I admit I was very judgemental. But usually people who listen to a lot of Asian (pop) music/watch a lot of anime fit into either of these two categories: they're either incredibly socially awkward people, who look like god damn bacon goblins with no care for their outward appearance or how they smell; who are obsessed with anime and (usually) Japanese culture, and are learning Japanese on their own so they can one day move to Glorious Nippon where they will finally be accepted for the misunderstood and unique snowflakes that they are, and they are going to land a job at Square Enix because their disgusting Final Fantasy fanfic will be appreciated over there goddamnit. It usually turns out they are ephebophiles as well. Or, they are perfectly socially-adjusted and normal people who just happen to like watching a bit of anime now and again and/or like listening to manufactured, albeit catchy, Asian pop music with attractive front figures. Because hey, it's catchy as hell and who doesn't like looking at hot women.

I realise this is judgemental as well. But christ, I went to a very IT-oriented high school for 3 years, and have spent the last 12 or so years on various internet forums. It really just boils down to either of these two categories.

And if by Snakes and Arrows, you mean the Rush album, then you are seriously cool in my book. Plus you eloquently stood up for yourself without resorting to childish name-calling which is even rarer here.

I appreciate your comments. Prejudice is rampant across the Internet and few people can truthfully claim that they are not guilty of it. Even my own assumptions in my rebuttal post were rather hastily-made.

I'll agree that there definitely people that fit the bill of the stereotypical "weeaboo" or whatever labels the Internet has conjured. However because they're just so incredibly extreme and totally socially inept, people linger on this image so much to the point that once someone exhibits some inkling of a related trait to the generalized stereotype, they are more often than not lumped right into the same group anyway.

It's really quite fascinating how the Internet has so drastically facilitated these social behaviours. The nearly instantaneous access to vast libraries of media and information as well as being able to network with intricate communities has spawned lots of new archetypes. I feel that the overwhelming sense of anonymity, on part of both the user and the peers they interact with, that one can get leads to behaviors and differences in judgment.

And yes. Snakes and Arrows the Rush album. Like I said, I was never really into one particular group. As such I have a smattering of cheap classical collections, 3 Rammstein albums, and an impulse buy of Snakes and Arrows because my friend got me into listening to them that particular week. Neil Peart is a drumming deity.

Ironically, I haven't gotten any SNSD albums yet. None of my local stores carry them and I don't have a credit card to order online D:

For sure.

I stopped listening to asian girls and asian group/band long ago. I'm not into those stuff these days.

I'd say J-pop is batter than K-pop. I used to like old school girls group called: Morning Musume. :P

Me too. The only kind of asian music for me is J-Rock and J-Metal. Sounds much better and more original

Define "original" when comparing music from two different countries.

I'm pretty sure having boobs is the most broken super power anyone can ever have. 0_0

Thats right, I think there is not right to compare two completely different genre, based on different cultural characteristics of their countries. It's like comparing Viking's hymns and German military marches

See, that's one thing I don't get about asian pop music. As opposed to other music, the fans almost seem to care more about the lives of the girls than the music itself.

Count the people that supported K-Pop / Asain-pop on this thread. Then count how many of them have some sort of anime-esque avatar.
