The Canadian government signed a complete surrender today, officially handing over all lands to the United States of America. Canada will consist of 8 SARs (special administrative regions); British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Maritima and East Alaska. They will have the voting powers of states, but will also keep a central Canadian government to deal with issues of education and healthcare.

The Norwegian space center is now complete, creation of five $5,000,000,000 Space Shuttles begin, these will be outfitted with current level (6 yrs research) heat-protection. They will be lanched to Mars next year, any equipment and/or personel that foreign nations wish to send are free to join after a thorough examination. Among the things the Norwegian astronauts will bring are mars rovers outfitted with next years level (7 yrs research) of solar panels as well as new panels for Spirit and Opportunity, these are free of charge for NASA and can be considdered a gift.

 

Please do note that these shuttles cost three times as much as what Endavour cost and will thus fit an extrordiary amount of load as well as rising the success rate of launches from 131/132 to 199/200.

 

 

Also any nations may produce their own shuttles and use 747s to bring them to the station, but:

The shuttles will land on Mars next year, at which point the rovers will be sent out, the US' rovers will have their solar panels upgraded and the corpse will be exposed to the thin Martian atmosphere for a month before they return with several samples of Martian soil.

 

Norway begins building ten more shuttles for 5b each. Plans are released for what seems to be a project to colonize and gradually terraform Mars.

Also the shuttles have returned from Mars, the most notable results were soil samples, as previously though from the results from the rovers the soil contains high amounts of iron-oxide, also known as rust, as well as sulfuric acid. It also contains all the neccessary minerals for production of perfluorocarbons, the most potent known group of greenhouse gasses.

 

There are already plans for new missions, the construction of a large space station above Mars and dumping of large quantities of water are among them. Norway invites all other nations not only to send astronauts, but for full cooperation.

 

As well Norway begins construction of a stunning 45 more shuttles, this will be done over the four next years. The old ships will be upgraded with the latest level (9 years currently) of heat plating.
