The sayings are true. Nobody can start a fortress there because all the dwarves just drop to their knees and stare at the pillar in awe until they starve to death (Or you turn it off due to low fps)

Nah, but generating such a pillar causes the game to move so slowly that they might as well. It literally grinds to a halt.

Apparently the entire world caved in around the pillar. There were 10 z-levels under the starting floor.

No, I mean the giant spaceship Ross. "The Hand of Armok" or some such thing.

I nearly survived breaking into the circus and leaving it open. I also figured something out: The first wave of clowns is freaking huge, no lie about that, and surviving it is tough as hell, but if you manage it, they start only coming at a slow trickle, which can easily be handled.

 

New goal: Declare war on clowns and Survive HFS.

I'm just going to build a massive pillar or something. I dunno, I have a 147-dwarf strong laborforce, and over half of them currently perform the task of Hauler. So...

He shall die by my adamantine flambard, and legions of war crabs. I trained one of my dwarves shield and dodging skills so high using a danger room that she can practically do the matrix thing. I had to make a new danger room just for her that uses bronze spikes instead of wooden training spears. Any other person who goes into that room gets torn to shreds, she SLEEPS IN IT.

 

Civforge weapons, for the record. Flambard was from a strange mood, and the thing is abusrd. It cuts enemies like butter. Army of war crabs is self explanatory. They aren't that great, but ARMY OF WAR CRABS.

Do not install the entire mod, it will net you a bad graphics pack. copy and paste the entity files to the phoebus DF object raws, and you should be able to get your very own war crabs.

 

Speaking of civforge animals, one of my dwarves has [edit: Make that 8] beetles as pets.

 

He is sick. Very very sick. I think it's time for him to pull the magma lever.

Project Breed-the-wild-animals has failed. Miserably.

 

On the plus side, I have figured out that the baby of one of my military dwarves is amazing. SHE BASHED IN A GROUNDHOG'S SKULL.

Train that baby well.

Anyways, who thinks building a pyramid aboveground providing an entrance to the fortress is a good idea?

And to keep it dorfy I thought I would just carve it out of a mountain or, if necessary, carve it out of the ground and then simply chisel away the surface z-levels to be level with the base of the pyramid.

So... Start on a mountain, chisel it into a pyramid, and then build an entrence in it filled with traps, switchbacks, and other insidous tricks to keep enemies out? Then, leave a small plateu on top so you can do aboveground farming.. If posible. BRILLIANT!

Plateau? Who needs a plateau? I'LL JUST CARVE ANOTHER PYRAMID UPSIDE-DOWN!

.... That's a lot of mountain your looking for.. And unless you can grow trees, you won't get much wood.

Wood for what? Besides, I'd just axe the surface anyways.
