Seraphi
Aquatic Mermaid farms, hell cannon that shoots demons, adamantine spire which reaches into space, etc. The sheer number of possibilies is absurd. Dwarf Fortress is a genre in and of itself. The closest it comes is an RTS, but that doesn't really apply because it sort of transcends the entire concept of an rts. Not only that, but they have added a mere fraction of the total planned features, and it still has so much depth you could (And most will) drown in it. The release date for the completed version is 2025. This, H&H (If you're into that kind of thing) and minecraft are the three indie games which deserve a lot more credit than they get, in all honesty. And to perhaps coax anybody who dares to read this topic into playing DF, I point you towards Boatmurdered Also, a recent event in my game. The red tiles are coated in blood. Most of those skulls represent chopped off limbs, and the red background letters are dead things. The red 7s are magma, because magma moats are cool. Dwarf Fortress is the only game I've seen which calculates internal lung damage from a hammer blow and may cause you to choke on your own blood a few minutes later. It also calculates when something will die of blood loss, and how much damage a weapon will do based on about 20 different stats (Density, impact area, fracture strength, tensile strength, shear strength, elasticity, size of weapon, velocity, and like 10 others) If anybody reads this, I dearly hope you at least try the game, because it really is amazing. Icuownage
Basically... The one of the most realistic games with some of the most unrealistic graphics. It's a REALLY big shaft.I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time? Seraphi
I like phoebus. Makes everything easy to understand, while retaining the style of DF.
Nexaduro
This seems strangely empty. Is noone on Tip.it interested in games like this? Seriously, all you folks out there should give it a try. Maybe make a Runescape mod. ;) 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Seraphi
Yeah, it doesn't seem like anyone is interested. Pity.
Nexaduro
Wow, sad. Tried playing as a Silver Xelic adventurer. First time I kicked arse with an axe and three shields, but the game crashed when I was no longer able to stand and was starving/dying of thirst.Second time I started with a pike. I got ripped apart by a child.Third time I gave myself dagger profiency and got mobbed by a whole village. Dangit, I guess I'll try swords. 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? Seraphi
I tried to install both Genesis and civforge. It kinda went all wierd, so now I'm only using certain parts of civforge, lest I get 5 seiges in the same season from like 20 races.

The Runar
I just got addicted to this game... again. I somehow got 24 migrants at once. LinkOlaran
After Minecraft (another indie game) got a bit boring for me, I decided just now to download and try this. Generating my first world now :) I'm curious as to what graphics pack I should install (after I play for a bit, anyway). Any recommendations? And is it terribly complex to install them? I have the DF wiki open as well, but I'm not using it till after I fail a few fortresses (I note that it stated somewhere that 'losing is fun' so... here goes nothing :P) ... Just looking at the map gen process makes me even more curious about this game >.> it really is fascinating, I've never played a game that has ascii graphics before. Seraphi
Most of them come with a readme or instructions. It's easy to do. I recommend Ironhand or Phoebus graphic sets. And yes, losing is fun.
