Seraphi
I like brooks because it allows you to gather fish, providing food before you have your farms set up. As of now, I have 750 units of fish, 800 units of plant, and 700 units of alchohol.
archimage_a
waterfalss are practiaclly useless. aquifers are dificult to keep track of, imppsible in those areas where you cant smooth stone. you run into one of those, your fortress is screwed from that point further... They make dwarves feel better and make me feel happier.Aquifers are imensely easy to keep track of...what with the blinking blues.Build walls...You do know you can dig downwards? http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. Earth
arch, you dont understand. if the aquifer breaks through the stone, then how are you to acess levels farther down? no dwarf is an expert swimmer when you get them. and its hard to do things underwater if.. yyouknow.. you cant breath down there. Earth
true. but whenever ive embarked onto an aquifer, its broken through before my engravers could smooth the stone. i lsot 20 dwarves from the flooding.. archimage_a
Hmmmm...My method would be to just tunnel where the aquifer isn't...trying to beat the game didn't go well when I tried to redivert a river...or any of the other times I tried to do something mildly complicated....So... http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. Retech
I have an idea for the river diversion. If the river freezes, you could manage to dig out some of the ice and build a wall, then allow it to follow the new channel. Master of your domain? Earth
i made a multi powered millstone, so it could funtion in winter and summer at full capacity.. complicated series of tunnels, channals, gear assemblies, and waterwheels/windmills didnt make the game go nuts or anything. redirecting a river is impossible, because you have no way to block the rivers progress downstream... Retech
Redirecting a river is easy, if it freezes. Also Nex, I believe that the river just stops, instead of overflowing. You'd probaly need pumps for that. Master of your domain? I am Lord of the manor, Queen of the castle, King of the county! Seraphi
The economy wont start properly in DF2010. Electrum coins weren't used anyway. Also, electrum is a real metal. It's an alloy of gold and silver.

Jehosaphat
Well, I just realized that the boundaries for my goblin shredder had pits that conveniently went into my archery range. Oops. Then some snatchers showed up, I sent both my army squads after them, and..... they hit some alligators instead....? You can guess what happens next. Jehosaphat
Just survived a Swamp Titan attack with no drawbridge and no functional traps (I was setting them up when it appeared) Losses:A catA dog2 brave and loyal soldiersA mechanic who had immigrated with Legendary Siege operation - fat lot of good it did him Cleanup and such is beginning. Going to butcher the fat thing if I can, and dump it into my garbage chute of death if I can't. As for all the dead critters... Cat and dog will be butchered, soldiers and mechanic will be put into a mausoleum being built for just that purpose.
