It doesn't, it is single player.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

My jeweler went insane from an unfulfilled secretive mood right as everyone else started dying of thirst. So I let the rabid dwarf go kill people until my crossbow squad arrived.

a70c7.png

Why not? I always do it once my fortress is up and running.

Honestly, nobody listens to the elven demands anyway.

Don't get the last two panels.

Epic flooding hallway trap I built.

Enemy comes down series of ramps to get into my fortress.

Enemy reaches door, opens.

Enemy finds himself in a one square tunnel.

Enemy walks along and steps on the orange pressure plate.

Main flood gate opens.

Water rushes into the tunnel and over the green plate, which locks the door behind him.

Water fills the tunnel, drowning the enemy.

Dwarf comes along and pulls purple lever to drain the tunnel.

I'm also going to hook up the enemy access door and the main flood gate to levers so that I can remotely close and open them if more enemies come before I can reset the trap.

What do you guys think?

You better hope they didn't bring doorbreakers, like Trolls.

I plan to build a water trap, a perpetual pressure pad death trap, and a few cage traps for good measure on top of those.

Bring it on, goblins. BRING. IT. ON.

Nex, I think the last two panels are the elf leaving and the dwarf pulling the lever anyways.

The only difference between a disagreement between friends, an argument between strangers, and a feud between enemies is the ability to reconcile.

I have finally created my first functional fortress! Unfortunately, I have no idea how to defend it, so I better figure out some drawbridge system soon.

Ah, drawbridges. Also known as "Dwarven Stuff Launchers" and "Dwarven Atom Smashers."

If I build a channel connecting to a surface body of water, will the channel (when filled) act as a moat?

I wish I could find some magma :(

You and me both.

And Tech, it could only be used as a moat if it's either completely flooded or has no way up or down the walls. Since trench-digging automatically turns it into a ramp, your best bet is to flood.

On another note, I just got a legendary woodcrafter. Now if only it had been carpentry.... Oh well. Guess I get to sell pro wooden toys to traders when they come by.

Oh, and my perpetual pressure pad/spike death trap is nearing completion.

a70c7.png

When you mean completely flooded, is that seven units of water?

Enough units of water to make something drown; I'd go with 7 just to be safe.

And I think it's very much like the goblin grinder, Rocco.

How much time do I have until enemies start showing up? Ive played for about a year.

I have it set up so that a goblin crosses a hatch, then steps on a pressure plate that makes the hatch open. After that, there are some spikes, then a pressure plate, then a hatch connected to the pressure plate. So the goblin/critter/whatever can go in, but it can't get out.

Oh yeah, and I deliberately tried selling a log to elven traders. More invaders to die in my traps wheeeee

Gah, one of my Original 7 - miner no. 1 - just died due to injuries from a cavein. Time to unceremoniously chuck him into a lake.

a70c7.png

Noooooo, all my water froze over during the winter. Will my dwarves die? :(

I restarted for no reason. This time, I'm actually going to do underground farming since it makes life so much easier.

Well I seem to have a huge hole in my defences. My moats freeze over in the winter. :D

Depends on how you make the farm. If you try to bring the water to the farm, it makes a huge mess. If you try to bring the farm to the water.... well, I haven't tried that yet.

Tech, build a bunch of drawbridges. As in enough to totally cross your moat. Then use them as a wall until your enemies get too close to them.... Then atomsmash their faces off.

Nah, I'm using the murky pool method, so the worst that can happen is that I need to wait till it evaporates

2Xeo5.png

I'm so anxious to try out my flooding hallway...

Use a cat.

On a more pleasant note, my smithy just went into a fey mood and grabbed some steel.... this could be good.

a70c7.png

Sorry for the double post, but.... BLASTED SMITH DWARF.

He just wasted perfectly good steel on an earring. And now he's a legendary metal crafter - also known as "the skill that wastes metal on making pointless crap for trading."

Must... resist.... urge.... to.... cavein.... smithy....

a70c7.png

gosh darn.... i need to mine out new rooms for my dwarves... and i cant find any metal to make stuff with.... what can be used as metal alternatives ross?
