Are curses worth it in my situation?...

Featured Replies

So I took a long break from this game and have only really started playing it again in the last month. During the time I didn't play, curses were realesed...

Initially they looked really good so I did all but Defender of Varrock and Temple at Sennestien until something occured to me, are curses actually worth it at my prayer level?..

I am 70 prayer and have no intention of raising it, I would go to 71 if that would make much difference for deflect melee. The only time I do combat is with slayer and I am currently failing to see how they would help me...

I have 84 defence, bunyips and always use super sets and rarely find I have to bank much for food on tasks, or that I want to use protection prayers against any monsters. I do however enjoy using Piety and Eagle Eye from time to time which is something I will loose...

What I would like to know is how using any of these curses, upto lvl 71 can improve my slaying or what level would I need to get to make curses worth it?..

What situations are curses really good in?

I understand they are awesome for Turmoil and Soul Split but the 95 prayer is a hell of a long way off for me...

Cheers for any help you can give me... :)

Nope, especially in slayer the curses aren't worth giving up piety. And I believe that is the case until soulsplit.

Piety is better if you don't plan to level prayer. But deflect melee is better in situtions where you would normally protect melee the damaged reflected back makes tasks so much faster and it drains a lot slower then piety.

Ok then, thanks.

So two more questions,

1. What situations would the curses upto level 71 be worth it? Dungeoneering perhaps?..

2. How easy is it to switch between the two sets of prayers?

Avid43.png

That depends. Switching to prayers (Piety, etc) just requires praying at any altar and choosing to switch from curses. You can also choose not to switch to prayers and keep curses. To switch to curses from prayers, you need to access an ancient altar located in the Digsite. The Senntisten teleport on the Ancients spellbook will take you directly to the Digsite, as well as the Digsite pendant (Enchanted ruby necklace).

Thanks for the reply, in that case I think I will go ahead and get 71 prayer and do the last couple of quests I need. If nothing else they will be a bit of fun from time to time...

Curses are only worth it if you can buy level 95. Otherwise prayers are better.

Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)

Dagannoth kings drops: 73

Barrows item count: 51

GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)

Whips: 4

Sigils: 1x spectral (FFA), 1x arcane (FFA)

I seem to recall this game having a combat triangle, not a combat dot? curses are the best prayers for killing armadyl and maging frost dragons. You certainly won't need 95 for those(though 71 won't do either).

Once u have completed the quest u can make it so u can switch at any altar between curses and prayers.

Curses make many slayer tasks faster with the deflect curses.

And if you don´t feel like pietying ever task, the berserker curse is rather nice. I´m only 74 prayer and since I completed the quest I`ve only switched back to normal prayers for bosses where I need piety, because I preffer to berserker/Afk slightly my tasks rather than waste money/and have to concentrate more pietying them.

Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?

It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities.

As he states, he would only use it for slayer, and I'm pretty sure Frost dragons and Armadyl aren't slayer monsters. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you have much better knowledge about the monsters you mentioned (especially frost dragons), but those monsters aren't relevant, unless you wanted to refer to...

I just stated some really obvious examples where neither augury nor rigour would even be better than curses. Obviously there are quite a few examples of where curses would be better for mage/range slaying before reaching 95(or even 92) prayer. Your answer just assumed that slaying is only done by melee(and as he isn't 99 range/magic yet, it's not a fair assumption).

Soul split is great on wyverns and in dungeoneering even without turmoil, but since you'll only get 71, stick with prayers for slaying. Piety is still much better than leeches.
