Gay Marrige

I personally feel that there shouldn't be a discussion about gay marrige, marrige is a religious and cultural thing, because gay people want to get married they shouldn't go against the culture. If they want to get married they should make there own cultural equivelant.

Apart from civil rights, I see no point for a gay couple to get officially married.

Marrige is a thing between a man and a women, it always has been and its a traditional thing aswell as a legal thing. It shouldn't lose its traditional values.

Gay people don't have to get married, they can live with each other if they wish but why do they need to be married?

If your suggest legal rights, than they have to apply to get the income, marrige is the tradition which they shouldn't participate in.

 

Edit: Why must people be 'equal' it is clearly different from normal marrige, they need a counterpart but churches shouldn't be forced to accept things that there religion is against, and the government shouldn't decide what we want to accept; the people will, although it makes the gays feel good inside its a bit of a pathetic attempt.

Also I'd like to point out it used to common in christianity for sexual acts to be commited, right up until Paul (I think) basically banned anything thing sexual, so yeah, well done christianity, you hypocritical [bleep].

Marriage = the same as a civil partnership.

 

The only difference is the name. Who really gives a damn if it is called a marriage as opposed to a civil partnership. Both have the same rights as one another.

Says who? Have the traditions the human race has practiced, how long have we practiced it? Since Eden (for religious) or since the rise of consciousness (atheistic) ? SOme may say they practice marriage ever since Eden, but that can never be confirmed. IF God (I'm assuming you're Christian, judging from your posts) created Gay men, Lesbian women, Bisexual men and women, and even transsexual, would he not want them to be accepted among his other children, as no different from themselves? Don't get me wrong, I know exactly where you're coming from, my sister has the same IPOV (intellectual point of view) however, I still disagree. Atheists get married all the time, if the first marriage was ordained by God for a man and a woman, and Marilyn Manson can get married to a 19 year old, have times not changed?

marriage imo has become less religious, example, my mom and step dad got married in a drive by marriage place, to me its not very religous. gays should have rights as much as us, it shouldnt matter if they love another man.
