Earth, you can't nearly speak it as well as me, which would most likely be clear once you try to deal with a critical system. I am a scientist thus I am better at computers than you with you being better at physical repairs with us being eaqually good at fixing circuitry. None of our energy weapons are in any way able to equal the rate of fire my Nero can (not to mention the fact that unlike all our weapons but the phaser and the meson pistol it can be used one-handed). As Ross has stated several times in the zombie survival thread, using mellee as primary against zombies is suicide (which has been proven here). I am more adequate to deal with the situation than you, the only problem is that I can't do so without someone bashing my skull in for trying. Repairs are always cheaper than building and the drones would be harmless if dealt with properly.

Just to make this clear, if I was ably to type how pissed I am at you right now there'd be a hole through my computer, my desk, my floor, the first floor, my basement and then at least another hundred meter into the Earth's crust. I advice you to stay out of my way and not interfere again, ever.

The same counts for you, Nex.

Ross, Dusty, I'd prefer if you granted me the opportunity as opposed to me going rouge to handle this.

Wow, that session seemed like it would have been extremely fun, and happened to have a few situations that would have really turned out better if Drake was there. Jeremiah, Never Ever rig the time distortion burst with a Dead man's switch again, as it just so happens it would kill all the other crew members, and likely not damage zombies.

Also I wonder if I should deploy my secret weapon system for this mission, especially as it would probably be super effective against everything that has been faced so far, however it is also highly dangerous to be used (which is why I will not allow anyone to build the thing without my permission, and I would require it to be dismantled after the mission [since I am sure you will insist on me saying why this mystery tech is so dangerous: in a simulation eliminating 4-5 un shielded un armored targets in the Unity's cargo bay, using around 3% of the fuel did in excess of 12% structual damage to the bay as splash damage. during those test runs it only lost to the Time distortion burst in terms of destruction, as the time distortion burst literally vaporised the entire test enviornment except for the thing using it.] and that the intended use for this 19 kT weapon system features around 310 kT of equipment just to make it mildly safe to use) even if proper visual systems such as a sonic visor were being used.

Ah, Drake, tha particular item would just eat through the hull. It's 30 years old, practically an antique, so I think even a short burst would cause too much damage to be safe.

And why would the time distortion device not affect zombies? I intended it as an emergancy in the event that I'm the last man standing and I'm unable to hit the switch, because I didn't intend to die. You can blame Agent X for that little mishap.

Chi, you will not be taking this ship. I have many reasons for this.

A) It's 30 years old.

B) It has a crappy AI.

C) Zombies, zombies everywhere

D) THE SHIP IS 30 YEARS OLD. It'd probably be cheaper just to buy a new one, which you also will not do.

E) I would not let you captain a vessel even if we had one to spare. You constantly make awful decisions, blatantly ignore orders, and often ruin entire missions, and then blame it on your "bad luck"

G) At no point in our mission plan did it say we were to take anything off of the ship aside from the research banks, and Volta. We are crashing it into the heart of jupiter when the mission is over, because otherwise it would be dangerous to every living human.

Now, having already stated that you will go rogue if not given permission (That wasn't very smart...), how would you prefer to be restrained? Put in a cell, or just frozen solid?

Yeah, I personally agree that my weapon would have to be an absolute last resort in this situation, but it would likely kill everything.

my logic against the time distortion burst not working against zombies is that it works on a system of spontaneously aging everything within its area of effect: shields instantly drain energy required for long term use without sufficent power, stresses mechanical components, and causes instant dehydration in humans. I personally do not see how it would effect your typical zombie, but I was meaning more along the lines of: Why on earth attach a Dead Man's Switch to something that will kill everyone else in the boarding party when it goes off? Are you trying to make it a situation where we have to sacrifice ourselves to keep you from dieing because letting you die gets us killed anyways? if so, Drake's most likely course of action would be to sprint back to the shuttle and return to the Unity even if it required hacking the shuttle (He's an Science officer untrained for combat, without any method to not die from the burst (Jormungand c would solve that) and as he is the one who designed the thing He knows what it is capable of)

Aah, I was never told the mechanics behind it. I more or less assumed that it was just a regular energy weapon and that people could just get out of the way if it looked like I was in trouble

And no, I tried to set the radius of effect to a small area to avoid things like that. Not sure if I got a response or not, but AI was fairly swamped.

Ross:

A-C: Doesn't bother me, that's what I'm going to correct about it.

D: My bad decisions have been of next to no concern to you and they have never ended any missions (as I haven't participated in any) (also may I add, they have been both fewer and of less magnitude than Faust's).

D-E: That is how you're breaking the game, you deny me both rights and a choice over my own destiny, even though I am neither your prisoner or slave.

F: It is of no use to you, as you state, though the destruction of the ship is not actually part of the mission, it is better of in my hands where it can be fixed, cleaned and given both a future and a use.

Archi, I beg you to interfere with this clearly gamebreaking exhibition of behaviour.

Did you forget about the zombies? I think you sort of forgot about the zombies and the unknown toxin.

The ship will be destroyed. It is clearly a biological hazard.

And no, I'm not breaking the game. If you think you can go rogue, please, I'd love to see you try. If you leave peacefully, I wont even stop you, but I assure you that it will end badly.

The ship is part of the hazard and thus must be eliminated.

I'm not letting what could be an extremely dangerous bioweapon which could be reverse engineered or spread out of Jupiter's orbit.

Why do you even want it? It's an antique ship which is a good 25 years out of production... A shuttle would probably be stronger than the thing.

The ship is harmless, as are the bots, the only things that have to be gotten rid of are the abominations and their source. A little spray of ammonia and the ship is sterile.

I want the ship because then I'll have something over which I can actually decide, a place where I can do what I want, something I can develop, upgrade and mould to my own requirements.

The fact that it's old doesn't matter that only means it's easier to enchance, there will be few sub-systems blocking my way if I for example plan to replace the engines. And for the crudeness, everything has to start somewhere, just like Mozart for example, his career was started when he was caught playing with ink and a music sheet.

....I say we take the bioweapon for the good of the ship. Next time Russia tries to screw us over, a few zombie missiles into their hulls and poof, threat is gone.

This has absolutely nothing to do with wanting a zombie carp as a "pet". Nothing at all.

You know I'm too honest to be lying when I tell you that even though I leave the crew, I'll remain on your team. I will not intentionally harm any member of your crew except Nex or Earth, and them only if they really piss me off (you must realize why after Earth kept bludgeoning me in the head last session in order to keep me from waking up).

Archi, I beg you to interfere with this clearly gamebreaking exhibition of behaviour.

Its not really gamebreaking to threaten someone...

I think, gamebreaking wise, the only thing that qualifies would be killing a total regen character without a context.

I mean, it is fair enough being a tyrannical Captain/Assistant Captain who freezes insubordinate officers and uses them as a hood ornament...But going to the shuttle bay and shooting a new character through the head because of who controls them...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Jeremiah, permission to bludgeon Chi unconcious after mission is over, then drag it back to the shipyard for scrapping? It'll be much more usefull, after we send it through seven levels of firey hell, as scrap. And Chi, i have more experience in the repair and maitenence of a ship than you do. Electrical circutry is part of an Engineers training. And, the Nero is [cabbage]. (The gun, not the Captain.) Its worse than the Meson weapons, and i can easily modify a AP rifle to be a rapid firing weapon capable of shooting things faster.. And also, did i mention i am stealthed? Zombies can't see me, ergo, i stab them in the mouth, suck out their ONLY weapon, and watch them flail pathetically. And i will bash you unconcious if you disobey a direct order from our captain or acting captain. I admit i ALMOST did this time, but i stopped myself. (The door switch wasn't given an order about, i took the initiative.) And also! You aparently don't know how to deal with the drones, since you were stabbed to death by one after given a minute and several warnings to god damn respond. It is not gamebreaking to follow orders, nor is it to bludgeon you over the head. I will interfere if ordered to or i see the need to. (Ergo, your fails are threatening to kill us all.)

1That's personal assault, both in the manner that you would be assaulting me and in the fact that you are just by requesting it.

2You have more experience with modern ships, if anything a scientist would be more adequate in repairing an old ship than an engineer, though a historian with experience would be better.

3You are trained on making circuits you know how work, but since your education does not include designiong new ones you will have a harder time repairing circuits you don't have experience with.

4It is next to useless against armoured personell, however against any unarmoured biological or mechanical entities it will be at an advantage.

5Doing so would reduce the efficiency of the weapon and as such reduce power as well as accuracy whereas ballistic weapons only reduce accuracy.

6Zombies can still hear, smell and touch you, and as we know zombies orient equally much by scent and sound.

7You knocked me out and kept beating my head for the heck of it, you even beat harder and harder as if your intention was to smear my brain onto the floor.

8I was trying to get to you, whom I assumed the drone was talking to. Given the opportunity again I would have stated the information on the tag, given it a sample of DNA from the tag or disarmed it.

9You are confusing me with Faust, my mistakes have endangered no one but myself, and only indirectly lead to your death in one case (beaming into vacuum while unprotected=/=good idea).

2You have more experience with modern ships, if anything a scientist would be more adequate in repairing an old ship than an engineer, though a historian with experience would be better.

Engineers are just better at repairs...full stop.

Scientists bypass systems and get them working temporarily, though they eventually blow out.

3You are trained on making circuits you know how work, but since your education does not include designiong new ones you will have a harder time repairing circuits you don't have experience with.

As long as it uses wires then Engineering is better.

If it is some kind of crystal/stargate set up then science is better...But thats pretty rare.

4It is next to useless against armoured personell, however against any unarmoured biological or mechanical entities it will be at an advantage.

Potentially, it has a mild advantage over low intensity weapons(Meson pistols) and similar 'level' with medium intensity weapons(Duel Barrel AP beams) against unarmoured foes...

And against a swarm of unarmoured small foes it would have a considerable advantage over everything that doesn't explode/splash damage.

Its a specialist weapon for specialised purposes.

5Doing so would reduce the efficiency of the weapon and as such reduce power as well as accuracy whereas ballistic weapons only reduce accuracy.

Ballistic weapons are game-nerfed because ammunition is hard to keep track of and saying 'you run out' can spark an argument...which I don't need in the middle of a battle.

8I was trying to get to you, whom I assumed the drone was talking to. Given the opportunity again I would have stated the information on the tag, given it a sample of DNA from the tag or disarmed it.

Everyone makes mistakes...

This is addressed to Earth as well, saying 'Pause' once in a while(not ever action) is fine so that you can ask questions and such because this is fast paced and sometimes what I say has multiple meanings/isn't clear.

9You are confusing me with Faust, my mistakes have endangered no one but myself, and only indirectly lead to your death in one case (beaming into vacuum while unprotected=/=good idea).

The point, I think, is that if you are injured then other people feel the need to save you.

Also...If you were on a ship, abandoned for 30 odd years...you are on a pretty low state of alert. If someone then wanders through says 'Hi, I am Chi, from the ISS Unity.' I can work out three things:

First, you are naive/peaceful.

Second, you have backup.

Third, I need to inform the others.

IF they turn out to be hostile then the element of suprise is gone and they have more information about us than we have of them.

Hence, while only you are directly put in harms way, everyone else is indirectly put in harms way.

But yeah...Faust does silly things, Earth does silly things, Jeremiah and Nero do silly things...No one is perfect, but you follow bad Scientific Method...You start with answers and look for the questions that fit those answers.

Example:

<Chi>Those Zombies are Goules(SP?), therefore there is radiation.

<AI>There is no radiation

<Chi>It must have dissipated, I am going to find the radiation generator.

IF there isn't a radiation generator then you are going to be searching for hours.

And it is true that you might be right...that isn't in doubt...But looking for a radiation generator, on a zombie infested ship, a potentially massive ship, with a moderator like me...Is a long term objective.

And considering how quickly things in this game spiral out of control, taking small steps is sensible.

Which, I assume, is why people don't want to give you lots of power...cutting corners can be fatal.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I was going by mindless + not viral = ghoul.

Ghoul = radiation.

Busted nuclear generator = radiation.

Also I neither stated name or rank, I only stated that they should surrender Volta and lock themselves away.

Also, Archi, if that is the case with engineer/scientist, then the proper title would be theoretical physicist.

Chi, zombies don't have to be infective. Just deadly, undead shambling things. Ghouls, also, don't have to have radiation. Nor does it need to have a radiation generator. And Chi, everyone on the ship was KILLED by Volta, aparently. You just gave him the early warning he needed. It's probably what vaporized you in the first place. ... And that is completley off-topic.. the last bit..

EDIT: And, of course Archi. I was jsut asking the others to hold up when that hapened. I'll not do it much again, unless it's absolutely required.

Ok, zombies rely on being infective, else a zombie outbreak would be nothing else than the people directly affected by the source, Volta is not a Japanese name and I sent the message in Japanese, there's no way he could have generated a field strong enough to vapourice a person on pourpose and he was not in command of any active, powerful weapon systems (else we would've been killed instantly).

It was the simple principle of sending said message out that warned him that he had guests. And, he didn't need to, he could have just used a hand welder and immolated you repeatedly or somthing. And, Zombies could jsut be your average reanimated idiots who can't infect anything but eat human flesh.
