Dragon is 60, not 70. Abyssal whip is 70. Have you looked at our combat guide on the main site?

Granite. It's not a big step up though, rune is fine. But void is far better. It requires 42 atk/def/str/hp/mage/range and 22 prayer iirc.

And how do you get a hold of void?

My fault, I thought you meant 20 more levels. And I stuck with rune until dragon, it doesn't take too long to level up, and nothing's really a huge step up between that (void is good, but you need the entire set to get the effect).

Definitely worth the time getting void. If you read a good guide on conquest you will win almost every match, and quickly rack up enough points to buy a set!

My lame drops:
6 Effigys
1 D Med - 1 D Dagger
1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody

for weapons, stick with rune until dragon - granite maul is pretty awful

you can get granite armor at 50 if you want, it's only slightly better than rune.

Bleh, all that weight. I think i will just stick with rune, sounds like i can get everything i want done with it until dragon.

Actually, the only granite items that are better then their rune counter parts is the body and helm. Both the shield and leggings have worse over all stats. The only thing they have higher defense in is range. Which is hardly practical for training.

So, as a general rule of thumb, stick with rune until you can use dragon. Although if you've completed some quests, the Berserker helm, or even better the Helm of Neitiznot(at 55 defense) are some of the most widely used helmets in the game.

*Really wonders why people always use granite shields over rune kites for almost everything...*

Get a granite plate at 50 defence/strength. It's a decent step up from rune. Granite legs, helmet, and shield aren't much better than rune. In fact, their melee defences are lower than rune, but their range defence is higher. The granite plate, however, is better all around. Also, it might be worth looking into completing "Fremennik Trials" to unlock some cool helmets. It's not too difficult of a quest, and the warrior helm, and berserker helm that you unlock are like rune full helmets, but with attack or strength bonuses respectively.

Once you get 60 defence, I'd only reccomend getting a dragon med and dragon platelegs/skirt (there's no difference between the legs and skirt stat-wise). Dragon full helmet, chainbody, and platebody aren't worth the steep, steep price. Once you can afford them, chances are you have the levels for better, cheaper armor. Dragon med helm and legs/skirt are the only economical choices of dragon armor, the rest is more for show than stats.

Once you complete Fremennik Trials you could try "Fremennik Isles" It's quite a bit more difficult, but once you have 55 defence, you can unlock the Helm of Neitiznot. It's a great helmet with a strength and prayer bonus, and is worth using for a long time to come.

As for weapons, there isn't much to use inbetween rune and dragon. You can use a granite maul or granite mace, but they aren't very good for anything besides their special attacks. Just stick with a rune scimitar, until 60 attack, then move on to do Lost City, and unlock dragon longswords and daggers. They're generally the first dragon weapons you'll be using. Lost City is an easy quest, and most dragon weapons that don't require a quest are either expensive (dragon twohander), or not very good (dragon spear).

Granite is inbetween, but I'd still suggest rune over that. Void knight armour is pretty good, as well (obtained through the mini-game Pest Control or possibly Conquest). As far as helms go (if not using void, which require another helm), I'd use a berserker helm/helm of neitiznot if possible. I would not recommend dragon armour (the dragon plateskirt is an exception) because it's extremely over-priced.

I'd still use a rune scimitar until you obtain 60 dragon. At that point, I'd use a dragon scimitar. If you get 70, switch to an abyssal whip if you have enough cash... once/if you reach 80, consider getting a chaotic weapon (through dungeoneering).

Hope this helps
