pkthedreamer
Hi guys, I'm debating whether I should get a rare or not... I'm looking for something under 100m so like green/blue hween mask, santa, etc. I don't know if I'll lose any money if I buy a rare and it's a pretty big purchase for me so I just wanted to get everyone's opinions preferably someone who understands the market and has dabbled in the rares market. Any help in making this decision would be appreciated! Thank you very much. 200.
Kimberly
Are you getting it for personal achievement or to make a fast buck? If so, Santas are due to rise.

pkthedreamer
I'm hoping to buy one then sell it around Christmastime for a profit, then i'm hoping it drops back down where I'll buy it again. I don't know if that'll happen, but that's what I'm going for atm, what do you guys think? 200.

If anything, that train of thought affected the price more than the increased demand did due to Christmas. Someone correct me if I'm not remembering correctly though. In any case, try to make a judgement of when to sell.
Bladewing
it is right before xmas so santasell it around Christmastime for a profit "santas rise at christmas" = truth in coincidence, false in principle santas have been stable at their current price for a few months, so they are more likely to take off (for who knows how long) than they have in a while. h'weens might crash a couple more updates, but then they will take off again too. caveat emptor How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit

BeNiceOk
If it was me, I'd buy and plan never to sell. Many will testify: once you sell, it's awfully hard to get one back. The quote is true, however to me it sounds like the OP isn't really interested in having a rare at all, but the profit that would come with re-selling it. If he/she was really interested in one, I would assume that the OP would already have the rare in mind they wanted. Unless of course that the OP just wants a rare for the sake of having a rare, in which case you wouldn't worry about resale anyways. This is just my opinion, but if your using a rare to make lots of money, you can invest in other places to gain profit at a much faster rate. The problem with rares are, you not only have to wait for them to rise each day, but you have to wait for them to start rising in the first place. Like Gremmy said above, they are a LONG term investment, meaning if you hold onto one, you will likely need to wait several months, if not a year, before you see any real results with it. At the end, you might only see a +40M profit in the long term of say 12 months. To me this is not worth it, as investing in smaller supplies and flipping could result in MUCH more profit in the same amount of time. If you were to get a rare, I would advise you to get one with the reasons of wanting one for yourself and never selling back, or if you plan to quit for a LONG period of time. If your buying a rare just to make a quick buck, you'd be much better off using merchanting though other items, as it is unlikely your rare would get RNG'd. pkthedreamer
Thank you for all your help everyone! I bought a santa for 98m yesterday. I think I may hold onto it long term or maybe not sell it at all. I'll just be aware of the market and try to apply good judgment from there. I just wanted to get a rare because a couple years back I bought a santa for around 21m I believe it was. And a pumpkin for I think 8m. I was stupid and wanted cash immediately so I sold my santa for 13m, losing money. And I sold the pumpkin back for maybe 16m? But anyways, thanks again everyone I'll keep all your advice in mind. 200.
