Conan

So Conan airs tonight on TBS at 11pm est. I for one, am extremely excited to see it.

What's your thoughts? Are you going to watch it?

Something negative I've been hearing is is "I don't think I'll be interested in a talk show on TBS..", but my response to that so far is "I won't be watching it because I'm interested in a new talk show, I'm watching it because I really like Conan O'Brien as a comedian and talk show host."

My only fear is that TBS is going to give him free reign to basically do whatever he wants on the show whereas I'm sure with NBC he was much more restricted. Part of Conan's success, in my opinion, was that he pushed the boundaries (in a wacky way, not in an obscene way) and if there are no boundaries to push with TBS, I don't think it will be as funny. But I love Conan and I'm sure he'll do great. I'm looking forward to tonight's show.

I'm glad his show is finally going to start airing because the constant commercials are really, really getting annoying.

Conan's a funny guy, and I like his music taste (Conan is good friends with Jack White of the White Stripes/The Raconteurs/ The Dead Weather). I'll probably give his show a watch or two to see how it goes.

I'm excited to see it, but I won't be staying up late to watch it. I'm sure it will be online, if not on Hulu, then on some pirate site. I don't know too much about it, is it just a slightly different version of his former show on NBC?

So the same material won't be as funny because he won't be everyone's iconic rebel? That's kind of silly.

I'm saying that I'm afraid he might lose his potency because he is allowed to do whatever he wants. He was funny and gained his popularity because he pushed the boundaries of late night talk shows. Think of other hosts: Leno, Letterman, Carson. All those guys are pretty straight-laced compared to how wacky Conan is. I just have a feeling we may get a little bit of sensory overload now that he doesn't have a major network to answer to.

Imagine my disappointment when I typed "Conan" into Hulu and those things popped up.

I ended up watching it on TBS's site, but you have to watch one clip at a time (with commercials) so I got bored before the end. It seems like pretty much the same show as before. I'll watch it when I'm bored, but not go out of my way for it.
