But it's like you can only have one B. None of my friends were in it cept for me :(. I don't hate dumb people i just hate the ones who never study and start complaining why they failed or who just don't care. Soon enough machines and computers will take all the low mindless jobs so that only the hard working smart people will live through...which kinda makes me think if technology is good for us or not but im gettin off topic but anywayz congrats and keep up the good work, hopefully you will get lots of presents for your accomplishments. ddun
Actually, all it takes to get into harvard is a decent ACT score and a very well written essay. A classmate of mine did that just to see if he could get in and he got accepted pretty quick. He went to another Ivy league school instead. Lol I definitely got in, for those who don't believe me, but I guess I can't really prove it here. Well, my SAT scores were 1590 old and 2350 new, PSAT 236 I never took the ACT, didn't feel the need to. At Harvard, I'm looking at a biochem or biology major with pre-med advising. I also wanna take Chinese and math courses too. As for financial aid, Harvard is a tool and won't give me any...so I've got to look for some outside scholarships No, I've not yet seen How High, and as for RS, I quit about 4 months ago and got readdicted yesterday. mad4u689
ddun is right - as long as your grades and SAT/ACT scores are in the normal range (which is already difficult), with a very personal, unique, intriguing and interesting essay, you can get into almost anywhere. However, there is absolutely nothing that can help you more than a truly fantastic (full of impressive anecdotes that highlight what an amazing individual you are) teacher recommendation. College admissions is fickle. I hope to work in my school's admissions office next year, because I find the process fascinating. :D (and because I think everyone should choose my school ;)) Everybody hug and spread the love :D

No - I'm not saying that GPA is irrelevant at all. Your grades (GPA) *and* SAT/ACT have to be in a school's range to be considered. I'm not talking about normal countrywide - I'm talking about "normal" for a specific school. A lot of schools give you that 25%-75% percentile range... if you're at that 25th percentile for both GPA and SAT score, you can still get in. For a school like Harvard, the bottom "acceptable" scores if you aren't a recruited athlete or under-represented minority would still be about a 30-31 ACT, 1350 old SAT, maybe even a 2000-2050 new SAT. These aren't easy scores to get, but they're certainly attainable. In terms of grades, I'm also saying that you can get a lot of Bs. You can get in if you're just inside the top 10% of your class at school... or worse, if you go to a very competitive private school. However, your GPA really shouldn't be lower than about a 3.9 weighted or 3.5 unweighted. With these "minimum" statistical qualifications, you're in their range. Once you're in the range, then they'll consider you based on other outstanding factors - like, for example, an excellent essay or teacher recommendation that makes you stand out as a great candidate and someone who will contribute something special to the class of students they're trying to create. Everybody hug and spread the love :D

trapical
Congratulations, that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s quite an achievement. To those who question the difficulty of getting in, I actually work for admissions at my college. I enter applications and am part of a rotating group of student reps that sits on the admission committee. I am a 1/5 say on who is accepted to St. Norbert college ;) Anyway, our average ACT is 26 and GPA is 3.5 First we look at is the ACT, teachers will tell you ACT/SAT doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t matter but that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s really BS, a good ACT will get you accepted faster then a few extra hours of community service or a difficult class schedule. - If it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 18 or below you are denied, it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s that simple. - 19-22 is borderline we look at community service and the GPA (it better be high) - If you get a 23-26 we look at the GPA; if you̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢re at or above average you get in, if your not you better have a lot of AP classes or be in a lot of sports. - If it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s above 27 you are pretty much accepted. Essays are honestly not read as often as they are hyped up to be, at least not in my college. I suppose they are like tie breakers but I read them for amusement more then anything. ^_^ In my experience if I come across someone and ask my boss if he thinks they have a chance of getting in he says ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åwhats the ACT̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà

Not just cause it's better :P, but also because they have one of the best financial aid packages. Congrats on getting accepted! :D No, because it's better. Or because they have a co-ed bathroom. :P I go to Princeton, and I would recommend it to anyone (who has the grades to get in, of course). The hotel administration majors are the worst, they do absolutely nothing all day. They sit there and tend to their little hotel crap and make sure their customers are happy. Their classes barely matter sot hey have so much free time. They should give some to me. :( To Trapical: While pre-med is definately incredibly challenging, it's not as impossible as you make it out to be. All you need to do is manage your time well and be responsible. I am sort of like you, I usually get an unhealthy amount of sleep and I am always stressed out. But that's because I procrastinate like a mother. There is no need to be studying 11 hours for a test, at least not in one night. And biology courses are usually the easiest for pre-med students. Depending on the person, either orgo or physics is the hardest. If someone's not doing too hot in biology, they should reconsider taking the pre-med route. It's so much straight memorization. punk4ever
Punk4ever: Whatever wound up happening to you with college? :D I've got everything paid for at a state university (University of Arizona) and I was happy with that since they have a superb science program and medical school here. I also got most of my expenses covered at NYU where I applied as well, but I didn't really want to make the step and venture out that far (yet!). I still hope on going out of state for medical school (hoping once I get in). By The_Jeppoz
dymed
dymed, what year are you in and where on campus do you live? I have a few good friends who go there :D Actually, I don't live on campus. My sister and I both go to Princeton, and my dad is an overprotective father who believes that every guy in the world is out to assault his daughters or something, so he bought us a house right by the campus that we both live in. I'm in my 3rd year, but it's possibly my last year here. I'm in an accelerated MD program, which means that instead of the traditional 8 year road of becoming a doctor (4 undergrad + 4 med school), I can do it in 7 years. This means that one year I will have to double up as both an undergrad year, where I earn my BS or BA, and a first year of med school. So I'm in my 3rd and last undergrad year. But I won't be getting my BS until next year. So it's not exactly my last. To try and put it simply, I will be starting medical school next year while also completing my BA degree and officially graduating undergrad. This is your second year at Wesleyan right? I know a couple of people there too. Very nice school. :D
lemonberri
Or because they have a co-ed bathroom. :P Where is this? I've never heard about it. This means that one year I will have to double up as both an undergrad year, where I earn my BS or BA, and a first year of med school. Does that mean you need to transfer to a school with a med program for your least year of undergrad? Good luck!
