Swiftkit warning

Featured Replies

Several of my friends seem to have been legitimately hacked.. with the only link between them: they use Swiftkit.

As a result I looked and asked around, and saw similar stories on rs forums , locked though, and I found more friends with similar experiences.

NOW : I am not saying swiftkit has a key-logger or in some other way is hacking accounts.. BUT I am warning everyone using it to be very carefull.

Funny how free trade brings the best in all of us!

What OS are they using? SK for Mac just came out a couple weeks ago, and i'm using that.

Actually, your friend might have been a botter

One of the most Common runescape botting platforms had malicious code in it, which was able to snatch all usernames and passwords that were entered into it

I think they were waiting for free trade to come around, and swiftly hacked everybody. After that, the site shut down. The owners of the site are one of the biggest RL traders, [Caution: Jagex Rule Violation]. IM guessing they used the moeny and items from the accounts, to sell it to people for real life money

I totally understand this is circumstantial and it might turn out this was a coincident.. but I am not talking one person.. I am talking about many.

I am also talking about people who seem responsible and lastly why its not Jagex: no stats reset AND banks totally emptied in several cases.

This is just a warning, no more.. do with it as you like.

If you want to believe al these people are boters.. fine, I actually hope you are correct, means Jagex is finally doing something..

i use the downloadable rs client made by jagex

I like how people link circumstantial things to it.

Swiftkit does not make u enter ur pass etc anywhere other than the runescape java applet itself.

No-one with a decent AV has reported it being blocked or alerted about containing norty files (eg keylogger)

Therefore there is no logical reason to assume this is how ppl r getting hacked.

More obvious reasons r:

1) they visist dodgey sites get keylogged

2) They actually fell for the recent scam email

3) They have really rubbish passwords and have been hit by a password cracker

You guys are all giving valid ways in wich ppl get hacked.

I do not take all the people shouting 'hacked' at face value. Some people I take a lot more serious then others.

I have myself already sorted trough this and still see 'smoke'..

Not always, but often : where there is smoke.. there is fire.

So anyone reading this, make up your own mind..

I've asked around all my friends who use it and they're all fine =/ Most of them being at least 2.3k total or at least with accounts you'd think people would want

It's been around for a long time anyway, it wouldn't make sense for them to just start hacking people now after years of a clean record

That botting thing sounds quite believable though

This is what I heard on the RSOF too, that many botter accounts have been hacked.

How amusing \:D/

We also have a thread on the recent hacked botter accounts here. :) So seeing as it's not swiftkit, rather botting clients, I'll lock this. Feel free to PM me if you have a question :)
