Chaotic long?

No, if you get another weapon get a maul. Unless you have a divine, then a CLS is worth it for bandos solos.

This 100%. Maul and Rapier>CLS in almost every situation.

I was just thinking, with staking back wont the C long be more useful?

In armoured melee stakes the C long would be the ultimate weapon surely?

Just a thought.

Rarely? Even vs 99 def, trova, divine, etc?

Nah, longsword is better than rapier if you're using it on say, full torva.

On a fully armored staker (as opposed to a high def monster, since most high def monsters are weak to stab)

the longsword would be about 4% better damage rate than rapier.

This 4% difference however, does NOT increase with increasing armor. Once you get to a certain armor point, LS is always roughly 4% better. But never much more than 4% better.

On a fully armored staker, a chaotic maul deals damage 10% faster than a longsword, and ~14% faster than a rapier.

So once again, chaotic maul wins in this scenario unless you think a shield can justify losing 10% damage rate

Out of curiosity, are these numbers with or without defender? If without, divine reduces opponent's damage rate by 30% to reduce yours by 10%, so sounds like a win to me. I'm not sure any other shield would be worthwhile though.

Someone mentioned CLS > rapier for Bandos, which is false. Even with a shield, the two weapons are absurdly similar. However, the rapier wins hands down when you have to anticrash with the d defender you should be bringing in your inventory. CLS can't compete with rapier in a crash/anticrash scenario.

+ Minis, the rapier saves health by allowing you to kill minis faster (ssing the same but faster, taking less hits).

crashing/anti-crashing is useless to take into consideration now, considering any world is basically coinshare now if you go with trustworthy friends

...Not really? Say you and your friend are doing duo FFA with cls and defender, and then a guy comes in max gear and rapier + defender. You and your friend are now screwed, because the other guy's going to be getting the majority of the drops.
