SHIPPOU
Please note I have been "out of the loop" for a very long time ... I decided to get back into RS to see what is going on, and seen a new skill "Dungeneering" .. So I went and checked it out, soon discovering this "skill" is worse than runecrafting, and as badly conceived as construction! Evan if I reset the dungeons, the most exp I get is 20 or so a run. The major problem is lack of weapons and armor, even the stuff I make in the dungeon is almost worthless. I run the dungeons at 1 complexity, due to, if I run it much higher I die so many times, it kills most of the exp, and I get the same or LESS as a complexity 1 any way. The other thing is the one boss, Astea Frostweb. Last time I played RS, magic def was based on your magic lvl, and most magical attacks couldn't touch me ( this is before RS multiplied multiplied damage and HP by 10 ) . This boss, even at low lvls, kills me over and over and over. Even if I fish out all the fishing spots, I never have enough food to kill this boss in 1 go. Usually it takes 3 - 6 trys at it ( personal record at most failed attempts in a row stands at 17 ). I've tried stabbing it with weapons, blasting it with spells, shooting arrows at it, and praying. Nothing seems to work! If you look at my stats, you can see I am NOT a newby, so why does this boss present so many issues? ... In closing .... Is dungeneering suppose to be this frustrating, or am I doing something wrong ? ********** One of the old guard of RS. Racheya
It takes time. Just take it one step at a time, the earlier floors have poor XP. Make sure you're resetting right (do it once you've no more floors left to complete). I'm not big on DG tips but for the first levels, you just have to find your footing in the skill. Quyneax
Quite frankly you need to learn combat. If you can't do a solo c1 without dying, you need to learn to use protect prayers, safespotting/luring, gear choice etc. In a c1 you get gear two tiers below what you can use (e.g. level 90+ gets level 70 gear). That should be easily enough to survive. Also, read a guide. Read the entire tip.it guide, go back into the dungeon, get level 10 THEN ask questions. This skill is vast and we can't begin to explain it until you read, memorized and understood that guide. You can't safespot from a magic user! Gear choice is up to the game, not me, and I almost have the guide memorized I've read it so many times trying to figure out how the hay to do this. Here is a screen shot from floor 1, complexity 6, third room in ... how the hay am I suppose run threw here with getting owned?!EDIT: no mine rocks so far, no good drops. ********** One of the old guard of RS. Wkw
The first 20 levels are hell.. Don't expect to be getting god xp at all. I can solo a medidum floor in about 20-25 mins, and it is slow xp. Just learn the ropes. Once you are lvl 50 or more, it speeds up, but only if you understand what you are doing... like any new activity, you are going to fail unless you know what you are doing. You clearly donm't know what you are doing Runescape player since 2005 Ego Sum Deus Quo Malum Caligo et Barathum
zwilnick
I'd be happy to go through some dungeons with you. I'm no expert, but hopefully I can help you out a little. I'm usually on around sometime in the 11pm-2am EST section. Add zwilnick ingame. Hopefully it works out.
Quyneax
I can't see your prayer level in that picture but I can see you were subject to entangle at some point, which means you should have prayed protect magic. You are also using a mage top and a longsword w/ shield. That's what I meant by gear choice. In that situation it's better to lose the top. The strategy for that room (which is quite brutal I agree) is as follows. First you place a gatestone just outside the door, then run in with protect magic on. You should get a few hits in before the guy summons reinforcements. Look what they are. If they are rangers, teleport out. If they are meleers, safespot them. If they are mages, continue whacking the leader. When done, tele out. In a pinch you can range the guy one shot at the time, teleporting out before you get hit. In your case this means: alch the top. Buy essence, craft a load of cosmic runes. Purchase some food, if you have cash/low hp. You don't safespot a magic user and attack at the same time obviously, but you hide behind walls etcetera. Quyneax
What you need to do is find someone to make you the best 2h sword you can use, then bind that. It's probably tier 8. Use protect prayers. You wouldn't tank a black demon with no armour and no prayer, same in dg. Saunamajuri
I feel your pain. Learning the skill from the beginning was misery at its finest. But once you reach higher levels, it will start being fun. P.S. You haven't felt anger or frustration until you meet the level 203 mercenary leader. I once had 2 of those in 1 floor... "An Amateur practices until he can get it right. A Professional practices until he can't get it wrong." Quests just keep bringing me back to this game. Th e Doctor
Level up on resource dungeons exp, lamps, and peng points until 50 or so. In the mean time get to 70 prayer and unlock piety. Then bind the best platebody and the best 2h you can. Set your ring up for berserker. If you're dieing on C1s you just plain don't understand combat. I never even use food for c1s. Join Dung Smith cc to get your plate and 2h of the highest tier you can bind given you probably don't have mining/smithing level to make them yourself. Merc rooms are bad luck and are a pain in the butt. Sorry bout those, jagex screwed them up. Practice makes perfect, the bottom line is this skill actually takes...skill. Who would have thought?
