Question Regarding the Chaotic Rapier

Gandalf14141

Recommended Posts

Should I bother getting a Rapier at my current levels? I plan on doing slayer again eventually, but I don't know if I should get it when I'm maxed melee or work on it now.

Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! It's been fun.

Now is as good a time as any to get it, it's better than a whip so if you can afford it there is no reason not to.

And it's free, so there really is no reason NOT to.

A rapier is anything BUT free.

The earlier you get a rapier, the more time it saves on the way to max melees. Although dungeoneering is somewhat harder without turmoil etc., that's nothing compared to the dozens of hours a rapier can save you over ~30m melee xp.

He is only 50 dung. It will take many hours to get a rapier. Did anyone ever did calculations at what melee levels you actually save time till maxing melee?

Because I assume the rapier has max efficiency at higher combat levels than lower. I say this because I have been slaying next to lower level combat persons (below 130) with a rapier and they didn't really seem to go fast at all with a rapier. Maybe they would have been slower with a whip, but how much slower?

I would actually like to know if there have been any realistic calculations on how much a rapier will save you time on the path to maxed melee. Which would incorporate the time you need to get the rapier in the first place.

This, the repair costs are taking a chunk out of my bank due to recent slayer items being so low.

What would be cool is if Drakan and his minions kill all the sig heroes in the quest except Raptor who is wrecking. You and him team up and cave in some vampyre heads. He becomes a total bro in future quests and in a GM quest he receives a fatal injury and his last dying words to you are "Brofist, mang"

Well we are assuming you want to get a chaotic anyway, be it at 80 melees or max melees. Now we'll say you max melees, from 80, starting with ss to 99 strength followed by whip to 99 attack then 99 defence.

Starting each at 2m xp and going up to 13m xp, doing armoured zombies (best-case scenario for non-rapier due to slayer speeding up more due to dragon tasks & defence generally being more of an issue where rapier has increased bonusus over ss mainly).

Your xp/hr would start out lower. Assuming void + salve, no deflector, no berserker (i), fire cape: max 433 with extremes and piety (sara sword). At 99 strength, 535 (with whip on accurate, little less with ss). Assuming your xp rate at 99 strength is 120k/hr and goes up linearly with max hit (nearly true for azs), your xp/hr starts out at 99k/hr. Most of the time will be spent on higher levels as they take longer, so an average over 11m xp of over 110, so I'll say 95 hrs to max strength, then 90 for atk and 90 for defence. Total of 275 hours to max melees. Now you need to spend x hours to get a chaotic rapier.

Now if you look at max hits with the chaotic rapier, they are 501 (agressive) and 596 (accurate). So that's xp rates of about 15% and 11% higher. Very simply since I cba doing it all that means you save 27+ hours.

So if you take 27 hours to make up for the difference in dungeoneering performance, you must be a terrible dungeoneer, especially if you go with DGS or a decent/good perm team.

Because max meleers never use their rapiers, amirite?

Every player who does combat will at some point want to get a rapier. The sooner it's done, the more time it saves. It's not the sort of thing you outgrow, at least not at this point in the game. You earn it once and it's useful forever.

First off ^ wow. Second off, should I be doing dungeoneering with teams now (at level 50 dung) because I've solo'd up until now?

Oh and 1000th post

Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! It's been fun.

Sorry for turning this into another dungeoneering topic, but should I just get use to w148 teams until I can fully enter the dungeonsweep clan?

addme in game, Ill duo some lower level floors with you.

edit: you can enter DGS at lower levels, its keyers discretion and I've never had any problems. Don't expect anyone to be doing any floors lower then f30 large though.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

It's this part that's discouraging me lol. I'll probably ask to join once I'm around 60/70 dung.

You won't find floors below 30 on 148 either. I don't think even 117 does them.

I meant 117, I had the worlds confused, I ended up getting a F20 med 5:5 done in around 30 minutes getting around 7k xp (which is pretty bad), we ended up losing someone so it made it 4:5
