Zaaps1
Fire giants are actually superfast. Use a combat familiar in CT.It would probably be faster to safespot cannon them or something, as only a steel titan can even venture a miserable try to get close to the dwarf cannon. And even then they suck. I suppose they're good if you got the demon horn necklace, bonecruncher and a I-want-to-use-prayer-but-not-pray-pots OCD.I'm not so sure about this. With a steel titan I was going through fire giants pretty fast. A task of about 180 took 45 minutes. Idk how many kills/hr cannoning fire giants at Waterfall is, but when I did that in the past it didn't feel nearly as fast as 240 kills/hr. ~It's Super Effective! Quyneax
If you can get 250/hr, they are only 27500 slayer xp/hr. Which is rather low, considering your expected average is over 40k (at 93+ slayer). Add to that their low effigy drop rate (1/1k or so), pityful charms (golds) and general bad loot (rune scimitar) you got a perfect block task. Of course if you can get 250/hr with a steel, the charm drops are not very relevant, but I'd expect you to care about effigies by those levels. trolling is unbecoming of you quyneaxYou call it trolling, I call it joking :P. JPMC Mate
I wouldn't waste my block slot on Fire Giants. :P Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous. I don't know. I would still collect gold charms if I had your summoning level. I wouldn't write them off yet. And I think the experience of slaying fire giants depends on your level. If you are maxed, have turmoil, extremes, and an iron/steel titan the task flies by. And what makes it even more enjoyable is that there always seems to be a lower level slayer in the CT doing fire giants, and for some reason they always want to talk (well, roughly half the tasks). And what's even nicer for your ego is that you usually do 3 or 4 fire giants when they do 1. Even your titan seems to be able to kill them faster than they do. I love fire giants. Because they allow me to use the one aspect of runescape I really got to love: the combat familiar. Hit a fire giant. Target the fire giant with your titan. Hit next fire giant. Activate iron within scroll. let titan kill the other fire giant. Kill your own fire giant. Move to next. Familiar killed the other fire giant. Target your fire giant with titan. Move to next fire giant yourself. etc. I love it when you get into the flow of efficient killing with a titan. For this reason alone I would never cancel a fire giant task. I guess wolpertinger would probably be the lowest combat familiar to make it a fun task. And you would need of course a powerful way of healing like soulsplit in order to do fire giants like this because often several giants are on you at the same time. As for the loot: Slayer is not a good money maker to start with. But I have to be completely honest here of course. I don't slay for experience. I have 15M+ slayer experience already. I slay for fun to break the monotony of grinding other stuff.

Quyneax
@ zotto: Slayer is not a good moneymaker, sure, but it is a good source of charms and effigies, and fires are definitely not. The rest of your arguments is subjective; while you're of course welcome to do tasks you love it's not correct to say they are worth doing. @ Zaaps: Even if the xp could be made decent in some way, the lack of drops makes them unattractive. zotto
Fire giants are the strongest giants, well known for their excellent combat and Slayer experience, and also their reasonably good Gold Charm drop rate. Like all giants, they have high life points but low defence for their combat level, but they can hit up to 116 life points of damage per hit. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_giant Unless the wiki is completely [cabbage], I am starting to believe you are not being objective here. Quyneax
Eh the wiki is not correct on this one. It's not great slayer xp, that's 50k+. Mediocre xp is around 40k, low xp is around 30k. Also, having high lp and low defence does not automatically mean great xp, let alone great drops. If anything, high lp means worse drops. zotto
Someone correct it then. ---- For those who are interested. In inefficient gear: v skirt, bandos top, slayer helmet, fury, RoW, d boots, d defender, whip. + iron titan + extremes + turmoil. Fire giants in chaos tunnels are 30k xp /hour. 210 fire giants can be done in 46 minutes. Which actually included switching worlds 6 times. Don't ask why. Also, never take RoW with you on this kind of task. It was utterly pointless. For some reason the RoW frenzy had gotten hold of me. Take off several minutes by not switching worlds and using a berserker. Shave off more time by using a rapier. didn't pick up anything below 5k. Quyneax
^That is not inefficient gear :P, well not really, depending on your cape I suppose. But yeah, 30k xp/hr, for no real benefits drop-wise. zotto
Interestingly: gargoyle task + fero 27K/hr No special drops Black demons in taverly under normal conditions (it was a bit crowded at most times: it influenced the efficiency) + cannon: I had to bank once. Yak couldn't keep up. 29k/ hr. I was a bit surprised by that. I thought black demons were good exp. all infernal ashes banked. No other special drops. Bladewing
gargoyles - agreed, they are average-ish xp black demons - you must be doing something horribly wrong because you can get 275 kills/h OFF TASK (which is 43k slayer xp/h). EDIT: read that you banked every ash. you were probably missing attack turns, which slowed your xp/h. Obtaurian
Fire giants are not a very good task. I don't particularly mind them, it's just that objectively, they are not good. Same with gargoyles. EDIT: To add to that, you really have to consider other variables when doing tasks - charms and effigies, specifically. Not only are fire giants low slayer exp/h, they're horrible for charms and effigies. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

EDIT: read that you banked every ash. you were probably missing attack turns, which slowed your xp/h. I guess banking ashes is more important to me than maximizing slayer exp. Still, I thought black demons would be better exp (for me). Makes me all wonder though, because I tend to do not so bad when comparing myself to the people who slay around me. That is the people I see every day. I sometimes count how many kills I have compared to the other guy at for instance the dark beasts. I usually come out on top. But apparently I slay quite inefficiently compared to the official efficiency figures. Makes me wonder if the average guy is doing even much worse than me. Because honestly the kill margin with the guy next to me can be 2:1 or 1.5:1. In my favour. Except in places like abby demons. Because I actually will pick up my own infernal ashes, and the ones that others leave. I am sometimes collecting more than slaying.
