Which void helm is most worthwhile?

Ok I have the elite void torso and robes and almost have enough for a helm. Which of the three is the best bang for the buck?

I dont mage often but I am 99

My Attack and Def. are 99, my str 87

My ranged is 86 so I'll be working on that next.

I see a LOT of people wearing full void doing range so I'm wondering if that might be best?

I have both range and melee helms and I would say I use the range helm more. Unless I'm doing slayer or boss hunting I use my ranged void. So I would say go for the Range helm and then get the Melee helm as I use that a lot as well, just not as often.

It highly depends on what you're doing with it, but ranged is the biggest improvement over other equipment. Melee is good as well, and mage is crap.

Worth noting that a lot of the time void is good for its ability to hybrid range/melee with the same armor, so getting both helms is a good idea.

Magic void does have one niche use -- it's good for maging aviansies, which gets decent magic XP and turns a small profit. It's still not worth getting except for completionist purposes, though, since it provides no damage boost and the accuracy it gives is not enough to offset that lost by using void instead of other high-end gear.

No offense, but I find it doubtful that void mage is useful at that one particular spot; more specifically, better then just plain old mystic/infinity/ahrims. Void mage is ok to mage so, so I've heard, but you'd be better off just using standard mage robes I do believe.

Mage void's best and only use is probably to use when hybriding in pvp (or any other situation where you need to pull fast switches) assuming you're already using another void set. Lot easier/faster to click on staff+helm+spell+player than staff+ahrims body+ahrims skirt+spell+player.

Range is probably most useful, considering it's probably THE best offensive range gear in game, even more range str than slayer helm when on task. You need it if you ever are want to range something effectively.

Melee helm is fine if you happen to be killing something off task, but considering how many other decent alternative melee gear there is it's not exactly necessary. A good second.

That may be true, but the Full Slayer Helm adds +15% damage, which outweighs the ranged bonus.

Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.

+10% ranged level wouldn't add to the damage bonus.

Oh, so a level 99 ranger will have the same max as a level 1 ranger given the same ranged strength bonus?

It has already been proven that FSH on Slayer tasks is better than Full Void.

To be honest, void isn't for slayer, don't use it for that.

Separately, Range is clearly the most worthwhile helm, with applications from off-task training, to PvP, to Jad. It's simply amazing offence if the conditions allow you to use up those slots for void. Melee's great for off-task training, armoured zombies and the like, but getting up close means that you might have to deal with the vulnerabilities of the armour if what you're dealing with bites back. Mage is pretty much for hybriding only, as dedicated robes are better, but I've had a certain amount of success tribriding at barrows with black salamanders and ice blitz, switching to Range (salamander again) and Melee (deflector/whip/barrows gloves) where appropriate.

Also, people, get a deflector. I know I've said this so many times it's becoming boring, but get a goddamn deflector. Seeing people using an unholy book with a rune crossbow on void range makes me cry.

Except the level 1 range can use the same armor :P

(JK, i know that range level is a factor for void armor)

No, see, he was saying that a bonus ranged level doesn't mean a damage bonus. By that logic, bronze arrows would ALWAYS have the same max from 1-99 ranged. Has nothing to do with armor, armor doesn't boost max hit.

It has in fact been proven that void is superior for, say, LRC or perhaps greater demons (if you ranged those, void deflector + rune knives).

It's good there because that's the only spot that i'm aware of where range defense is important, but you don't need that much of it. Void magic robes are the only robes in the game that provide ranged defense.
