Guest GhostRanger
Scholarship essays are usually really terrible (if you've done them...you know what I'm talking about). Well I'm reading a local one that I thought was really cool, and could bring out some cool discussion. If you were to travel back in time, which ten-year period would you visit and why? What does this say about you and how would you use the information you learn from your visit? The first part of that is really interesting to think about. 10 years anytime in history. When would you go? (No I'm not trying to get you all to write it for me - I think I can write better than all of you all :P ) I don't know what I'm going to pick...but I was thinking about the founding years of really any country. Just to watch how it works. For the essay I might say America because of the bring back with you part I can say I can bring back insight about our forefathers (too cliche though now that I think about it). But seriously, to see how a country is founded out of nothing - I think it would be fascinating. Maybe watch the Mongolian Empire form. What do you guys think? stevester77
The rise of the Mongolian Empire? Naa that wouldn't be for me. Too much movement and I wouldn't be able to stand in today's terms, their war crimes. Such as after sacking a city, decapitating every resident then making a mountain using their skulls. Or after a leader of a certain city wouldn't let Genghis Khan use his trade route, genghis after capturing him took molten silver and poured it into the leader's eye's and throught, making him swallow his "greed" If it were up to me, I would go back to WW2 in the Netherlands. My family back then were big in the Dutch resistance... (letting allied paratroopers land on our corn fields, using our house as a jewish safe house, disrupting nazi supply routes by blowing up their train tracks, ect.) not being a part of that is almost bittersweet. I could only wish to fight for the freedom of my country along side my family, yet not having to go through such war is nice. In the end though, WW2 is my choice. I doubt that helps you though heh.. if your into art, maybe being in paris art circles during the rise of impressionism? What are you really into? Oh I'm not asking for help, just curious as to what other people think. I don't think I would want to be in the rise of the Mongolian Empire, just watch how Kahn managed to bring all the different tribes together. How he came up with his war tactics. Fascinates me. knives669
I'd definately like to go back to WW2. It would be so interesting to see what it was REALLY like on the battlefield as opposed to all the WW2 video games I've played. :D Or I'd go to the 60's. mad4u689
I know I should say some time long ago full of interesting and educational history... but really, I'd just want to go back to the sixties and chill with the hippies. :D Everybody hug and spread the love :D
logic-is-overrated
I'd say the current ten year period that i'm in because i'm lazy and i'd hate to be without all the modern day conveniences. I'd say I learned how smart I am for making such a choice. Of course i'd use big words. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

IDK, ive always wondered what the fall of communism looked like. The first gulf war also seems interesting. I know some of you guys are old enuf to remember, but I was born in 1988 so I couldn't pay attention then... And of course, i'll enjoy watching history in the making at the comfort of home and infront of a TV  Wait, has cable TV been invented by then? :| The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. I know someone that went. There were riots in the street, and traffic was backed up for days on end. According to my source. Rioting did take place, and there was violence. There is violence at concerts nowadays, of course there was back then. :P Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so. ____
Keep dreaming Kayla :P Maybe I should come with in case you run into trouble :P Although if I could just be a spectator to event - I'd pick the gallipoli landing.
