Lagging

Featured Replies

I'm sure there are many threads about this, but Runescape for me has been lagging way worse than usual. I can't stand when I lose a battle because of lagging! Has it been really bad for anyone else?

The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.

Try update your graphic card drivers, and also try to switch to the other rendering mode (openGl/DirectX)

My lame drops:
6 Effigys
1 D Med - 1 D Dagger
1 Verac's Helmet - 1 Guthan's Platebody

Okay thanks, my computer probably needs some updates as well.

I was lagging like a mofo earlier today :S No idea why, had a ping of 40ish too, but it wouldn't stop :/ It's all better now but HUZZAH :D

Look guys... I absolutely must be a mass baby-seal murderer!

Did you die to elvarg again?

What was this epic battle?

Come to my Clan chat (I'm there if I'm online) if you wish to borrow a Green H'ween mask, Blue H'ween Mask, Red H'ween Mask, or Santa for a reasonable price.

With the abundance of tough, high-leveled boss monsters (and high-leveled regular monsters), and the reintroduction of "ye olde wilde" that comment is nothing but n00bish trolling. There are far worse things to fight and die to from lag than weak-caboosed Elvarg.

It doesn't even have to be an "epic" battle; a poorly timed lagout could cost you your life against mere red spiders if you weren't planning to fight them.

I'm just curious.

Then PM the OP if you're "just curious", or at least remove the snarky-sounding first line.

And, what does it really matter what the OP died to? How does that piece of trivia at all contribute to any sort of discussion? It could have been a hobgoblin, a jungle spider or Nex herself and it wouldn't change the fact that dying to a lagout instead of a legitimate reason is just plain annoying. This rant isn't about dying to monsters, it's about Jagex's crappy bandwidth allocation creating artificial difficulties that we have no control over in the form of lag waves.

And yes, I have noticed that the lag has been getting worse. I thought it was my computer at first, but after giving it a solid tuneup (disk cleanup/defrag, drivers updates, shutting down unnecessary background programs, etc.), I'm still getting excessive lag.

Is why I mostly boss hunt early, to avoid the lag. Of course less convenient when your clan has an event in the evening (died last Sunday, lagged when Zilyana spawned, she was clearly heading for me, then some frustrating "beating my computer up", then grabbed gear at SW to get stuff back).

I thought you implied that said difficulties were real?

I got a lag spike suddenly during bandos... lost a fury. The odd thing is that I rarely lag during RS, it's a little delayed, sure (200+ms), but it's usually not a problem.

My ping has been pretty shotty recently as well. Disconnected multiple times within the same half-hour.

Try logging onto a world that has less ping. The lower the ping number, the more faster your computer sends information to the server. The numbers represent milliseconds (100 milliseconds = 1 second).

Also, stop all downloads and uploads or pause them if you have them on. Downloading and uploading usually hogs up your bandwidth. Do these things after you have finished playing the game.

buy a new computer. 'scape isn't a top of the line game, it runs fine on my netbook and with only slight delay on my IPOD TOUCH.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I discovered many many years ago on CS when I used to frequent a Internet Gaming Cafe, just how important lag is... Just how much IM LAGGINGGGG was shouted out. The guy who owned the place took covers off comps, ran aux fans on them, set up dedicated connection for the "CS Crew" and another one for the rest...

come forth into today... Well, many yrs ago in the steel dragons, when I ... Lagged, lost a lot that day, no gravestones back then... just a couple of guys who were there also, who found my death and their new found wealth highly amusing...

Back into the here and now, yes, I suffer badly from lag, I cant pk cos of it, nor stake, which in a way is probably a good thing. Hopefully soon I will be moving, and will purchase a proper OFL of a top ISP here in the Uk. Will that help my RS experience... a tad I suppose, will give me more chance's to make a bit more out in wildy, and the confidence when I get higher leved to have it large with those Top Mobs out there...

So yeah while Lag is seriously annoying, sadly it is part of the Internet Experience...
