Suggestion: Old Topic Warning

Featured Replies

I was lurking on another forum the other day and I found that they had something that warned you if you're viewing a topic that hadn't been posted in for 30 days. I know it isn't a huge problem on Tip.It but it might help stop particularly newer users from bumping old topics without realising it, unlikely to stop people who are determined to bump old topics though :P

This is what it looked like on the other forum:

Just an idea anyway!

I like it. I remember I bumped an older topic once or twice by mistake without realizing it. :P

Bumping an older topic with relevant information in a constructive manner isn't against the rules though.

I support this. Bumping topics with relevant discussion is ok, but doing so without realising it when there are more recent threads on the subject just leads to them being locked. It would also give us better leverage against those who bump old topics on purpose with no attempt to add to it in a constructive way.

Big thanks to Stevepole for the signature!^

I'll support this. Somebody just make sure there's a 3-month minimum limit before it shows up for an "Old Topic", alright?

(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)

Support. I'd also say 30 days is a good enough time frame; especially for boards like General Discussion where topics are moving/being created at a fast pace.

great suggestion.

support

Edit: Yay 100th post.

Perhaps, change the timescales for different subsections of this site? Offtopic has some universal debates that don't outdate easily, but General Discussion topics generally outdate very quickly
