Yeah, the refinery-crop combo is roughly 30% more effective than strip mining and way less effective than bore mining.

Well, it's sustainable. And we can use excess food to feed people, y'know?

You'd think, but mining quality does not generally decrease. One could equally say that the farms become tapped out of nutrients. Further, tractor mining is equally good compared to bore mining and there is so much planet that there is no worry of tapping out.

In our lifetimes maybe. But logistically speaking, everything ends, and if we don't set up a truley sustainable mine/kT gathering thingymabober, then we'll die. Sooner than expected.

Well I'm unaffected and already on ground, so I suppose I will be working on a cure. The others are helping to, but they need to find a cure for themselves first.

But most bacteria are killed by insanely high temperatures, such as 300 C. That's why we cook our food, except for the yum factor. :P

Extremophiles. If the Earth was impacted by a large enough meteor to turn the entire surface to slag, there would still be chemosynthetic bacterial life in the midpoint between surface and core temperatures.

 

SI, I would like to go with the Pegasus. I'll take a sample of the virus and see if I can eliminate it with electricity, in a way that wouldn't kill the host. Maybe screw up the cells with Telekinesis instead, but that would be much more difficult and power intensive.
