Player Mods, Ethics, and Dicing

This is the first i'm hearing of auto typers, of course that's against the rules, but how does a pmod know just by looking that people are using autotypers and are not just fast, repetitive typers? The point is the report says the rule "broken" is item scamming, not macroing.

A corrupt player mod would do exactly what we said to whomever we ask him to. We only called a player mod to the world, we didn't point him at anyone.. People from our chat got muted as well.

The complexity of the statement, including any text effects (glowing text, shaking, a combination, etc), and the number of extra symbols typed in an unreasonable time frame are good tip-offs.

Ok, well you missed the point. The point is that I wasn't....

I wasn't advertising anything in your clan. I've been kicked from that clan chat since yesterday.

Nice try though

And I don't have a clan. So there is nothing for me to advertise. I was merely just hosting on "your turf". And then playing on "your turf" with someone who wasn't associated with your clan.

Again, he said-she said bs.

Our chat was spammed, telling our members to join yours. That is when I told them "Feel free to spam back", which is why Pyr0 said what he said. You were advertising your friends chat, not clan. No need to act like you didn't understand what I meant.

You posted this BS and didn't expect to have the other side defending themselves?

He expected us to not even see this, which I'm surprised a member even brought it to our attention, but it was. He was hoping we'd get in trouble by jagex perhaps, or our reputation damaged? I'm not sure, but regardless, we are defending ourselves and you need to back off.

*facepalm*

I think it was said a while ago that hosting these sorts of games is frowned upon, and can definitely be construed as scamming - despite how honest one's intentions are.

The fact that you were muted sucks, and it really does; you simply didn't know better. I would hope that the PMod gets either a reprimand or demodded; you're not supposed to mute on request. ;)

At any rate, there is no such thing as a legitimate Dice Game, no matter who's hosting it, or whether or not they're a P/FMod. I'd say not to let it bother you too much.

I disagree with the fact that you say dice games aren't legitimate. The odds are stacked against you, however so are the odds in vegas casino's, yet they are supported by gaming commisions, as well as gamblers who know the odds.

I know that playing 60x2, there is a 18% house edge. I know that if someone offers 60x2 95x2, the house edge is reduced to 6%. I know the odds are still against me, but that's why it is gambling. I also know that staking on my account likely offers a greater edge than those mentioned above.

Thanks for your input :)

1. I was in no way part of any clan chat that spammed your clan chat. Many of my friends left this game long ago. Up until recently, I had done the same. But that is neither here nor there.

And I am all for you defending yourself. I will "vouch" and say that your payouts are legitimate. You have a 18% house edge and a reputation. Ruining that reputation would likely cut any future profits by scamming.

So to anyone who wants play dice, go with mew2 cc, as they will pay you out.

My problem with this is the fact that I have now been muted twice for committing no runescape offenses. This post would have never been made if I wasn't muted. And as far as it looks to me, I was muted for 1. Advertising my own hosting, outside of your clan chat. 2.Vouching for a member that was not part of your clan, outside of the clan chat.

Again, I did nothing wrong. Mew2, if you thought I was auto-typing or if I was muted because of one of the other auto-typers and just hit in the crossfire, then that's nothing more than a misunderstanding. However, Pyr0 had the intention of trying to get me muted because I was "on your turf". He knew I wasn't auto-typing, he just told me to "keep talking so the mod can mute me"...

Have you accepted the fact that there IS NOT a corrupted player moderator yet?

There's still corrupted PMods, we're just discussing whether or not the PMod/PMods in this situation are corrupt

If hosting games is frowned upon and can be construed as scamming, Jagex needs to ammend their item scamming rule. The current rule on items scamming is completely mute on the issue of dice games. An appropriate clause would probably be along the lines of "You must not solicite other players to engage in trust trades, either with you or a third party."

Listen, I was saying "keep talking so you get muted," because I thought u were autotalking earlier like the others in your chat. I said this because I CANNOT control the mod, as he will only mute who breaks the rules. I'm sorry if he made a mistake where he saw that your whole friends chat was autotyping so he muted your whole group. In that case please appeal the mute and it should very well get removed. I doubt your friends will get unmuted though.

Well, if he's not a corrupt mod, then he's just a very poor one. Muting a whole group like that is just lazy, because I doubt the entire group was autotyping, let alone a majority.

K4ylan, there were approximately 6 people in his friend chat, 4 in that world, and he says that 2 or 3 were autotalking I think? Seems enough for me.

Half is enough to mute all? And since when did anybody give a rat's ass about autotalking, anyway?

So far, to me it sounds like you and your butt-buddy are using the "they were autotalking" as an excuse to make a power play to protect your turf.

If there were 6 people, then it shouldn't have been that hard to weed out the ones breaking rules. Given the fact that this happened twice, it's no mistake either. You can't just place blame on the owner for the actions of the participants.

I never thought about it before, but if the pmod was careful not to make the threats, and act only as enforcement, there is a lot of potential to abuse their crown and very little chance of getting caught, as long as they are able to justify their mutes. What you want to do, is know a pmod you can trust, and tell them what happened. Ideally, you want the name of the mod who performed the mute, but I suspect they can work with the clan name, and just hand that over to Jagex who could then look at which pmods are in the clan, and go more in depth into the circumstances surrounding their mutes.

No one hates corrupt pmods more than the legit pmods do, and they know how to conduct one hell of a witch hunt if enough of them get too excited. My point being, if you know a clean mod, you can probably assume they will do everything that they can to make sure Jagex does something.

I wish Jagex would make up their minds with scamming. Even the pmods don't know what the deal is, and if nothing else, at least they should know. Also, I kind of wish Jagex would bar them from participating in these kinds of clans.

Once again, wasn't my friends chat. I was merely just peeved at you for muting me the day before, so happily I was adverting his payout on me.

And you can't deny that you took joy in my muting, regardless if it was legitimate or not. And there will be no proof of me auto-typing, because like I said, I don't use modified clients or any programs that would help me type. The only reason I partook in dicing yesterday was because I was bored of skilling, had made about 10m from it over the day, and I was looking to double it.

On Saturday:

After losing that 10m on world 18, I moved to 22, where in a previous day I had taken part in a dice duel with mew2 and recieved a 40m payout, after losing 30m.

I'm wasn't aware that w22 was mew2's world, I just thought it was a community dicing world. Hence, when I wanted to host my own dicing, I tried w22. One of the players who lost like 4m to me dicing, decided to advert for me. I told him I would pay him 2m to do so. He then pulled out an auto-typer, and began adverting me with that. I wasn't breaking the rule, nor was I encouraging him. I probably should have told him not to auto-type, but I didn't. I guess I was wrong there. I however wasn't auto-typing, yet recieved a mute, and this was when I was told to not "mess with mew2 cc, or I will be muted again"...I had to go visit my mom in the hospital, and the mute was removed by the time I got home.

On Sunday:

I did some quest, still peeved because of being muted for no reason. Went to w22 to do some dicing. Saw some other guy, can't remember his name. He was adverting a 95x3. I am an engineering major, so I am fully aware of odds and how to calculate my dis/advantage. I calculated his odds to be 3x better then the 60x2, assuming he paid on it. He did. I proclaimed his legitness (not even constantly spamming. Seriously like 3 messages within a couple minutes).

Not long after, I noticed his mute. Not long after, I receive my 2nd mute. Screenied it. Posted it here.

And that is my story.
