You know, most countries have traffic signs and common documents in more than one language, it comes with the territory of living in a global society. Honestly, most developed nations see learning a second language as a necessity to being a citizen, it's a two way street. Besides, it's not like every single immigrant never learns english, there are many that put it off and get by on bits and pieces but there are also many that put effort into learning english, but they need time to transition. And there have been laws presented to try and get all legal documents translated into spanish, but they're always shot down by the xenophobic isolationist segment of our society and their representatives in the government.

If I illegally immagrated to Canada I would know all the remedies in their laws to allow me to access things without having to get whatever their equivelent of a SS# is. If it was France I would learn French and do the same thing.

 

Also if someone doesnt want to go through that trouble then they are obligated to go through the process to get in legally. Otherwise I suppose their deporation.

And I'm sure you can research all of their laws and their native language extensively because you have a computer and internet connection, not everyone has that luxury.

I'm against illegal immigration, and I don't see how people can defend illegal immigrants. A country should have every right to decide who's allowed in and who isn't. I support instant deportation when they are caught, along with seizing all their assets and selling them off to pay for better border security.

I have been saying that too, even cited the law saying that it would be a felony for them to force you to disclose it.

Then don't assume that they'll steal #SS numbers.

For hundreds of years people have immigrated legally to the United States. Why does this one group of people think they are so damn special that they can circumvent the entire system? Immigrants are great, illegal aliens are leeches.

 

You know who must really be pissed off? The people who spend a few thousand in legal fees to legally immigrate. The people who apply for visas and get turned down in embassys. I mean, I've volunteered during the summer at a counselors office in an embassy. the visa process is pretty rigorous, we don't let just anyone get a visa. But here is this one group of people who think they are special, it really irks me. They think they don't need to go to an embassy or consolate and get a visa.

 

But their behavior won't change, to solve the problem the US needs to be proactive. I think some of the following might work as solutions;

 

1. Go after employers. Make employers liable if they hire illegals, this will make America less of an opportunity for them.

 

2. Being born in America shouldn't make you a citizen. This is an outdated law that encourages parents to sneak over so that their children will be American. Once they have American children then getting rid of the parents becomes difficult.

 

3. More value added tax, perhaps replacing income tax. This would force illegals to pay more taxes, however the economic implications could deem it to be a bad idea.

 

4. Require extensive proof of either citizenship or legal status to register for public schooling.

 

5. And of course, the most effective measure would be more foreign aid to Mexico. We give Israel and Afghanistan over 300$ of aid per person. Jordan, Gorgia and Namibia all receive around 140$ of aid per person. In contrast we give Mexico about 4$ of foreign aid per person.

 

Total aid to Israel = $2.5 billion

Total aid to Mexico = $500 million

 

So much aid is dumped into countries that need it less then Mexico does. Stepping up both military and economic aid to Mexico would help combat illegal immigration and the drug trafficking epidemic which is a whole different problem all together.

 

If we build schools, help create jobs, create stability through destroying the cartels, people will have much less reason to even immigrate illegally.

You clearly do not know how immigration occurred in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In Ellis Island, you got off the boat, told your name, and BAM. You're legally allowed to be here. This was for unskilled workers. Today that is not the case, where you simply cannot enter legally if you're unskilled. Period. If you support the immigration of old, then you should support immigration reform...because the system today IS NOT the same as it was back then.

They don't need to go because they're already rejected. Do people seriously not understand people would much rather sign papers than cross the border and live with the worry of being deported. You can't seriously people like to border-hop just for the thrill of it, if you do, then you are seriously mentally-[developmentally delayed]ed.

Yep; don't blame the immigrants blame the employers here. Just like drugs, we can't expect the drug cartels to stop over there when Americans consume more and more weed everyday over here.

Not sure how this will work, so please explain this process. But keep in mind, WASP Mr. John Smith better undergo the same process as Juan Gonzales or else this is just another racial policy.

Heh, I can agree with no income tax...but on a totally different level than illegal immigration.
