Possible way to fix RS Economy?

Recommended Posts

All this dice talk has given me an amazing idea. I was just looking at another topic talking about the price of whips dropping due to the fact that they never leave the game, but what if JAgex made their own official casino, and instead of betting coins they have a list of items you can exhange for betting tokens. They could load the list with items which are increasing in volume. Also, the exchange rate could be made greater for items that are worse off than others.

Example:

Whip : GE Price: 1m <- Extremely high volume - Worth 1.2m betting tokens

Rune Longsword (Just example): Ge Price 10k <- Moderately high volume - Worth 10k betting tokens.

Please respond with what you think of this idea.

No offense but if I wanted to gamble ill go waste it at irl casinos with the indians...

Plenty of people already gamble in RS, whether it's illegitimate dicing or boxing.

Definitely can create a lot of problems.

But since you made this post care to tell me what exactly is wrong with runescapes economy right now?

Over-inflated items was what this idea was targeting.

Jagex has no idea how much currency should be worth and they mess with it all the time. Personally I think they should stay out of it.

One of the good parts of being a DIY player is never having to worry about the "economy."

I'm like a hot mess, but without the alcohol.

Ok so you create a money sink part of the game that not everyone will be interested in. Furthermore, JaGex would be endorsing gambling, and that is not a child friendly activity. If JaGex sees the need to deflate the amount of money in the economy, they will create skills and armours that drain money drastically. They've done this in the past and will continue to do so to regulate the economy when they see fit. Right now, there is remaining inflation, but it's not as rampant as it was.

In other words, the economy is fine.

^They make you pay and ante, uncool. Just go to Vegas for real.

On Topic: I dont think there is anything wrong with the economy to warrant such a casino for those reasons; however, I think it is an interesting idea about trading items into the game for casino tokens. If anything, it would just be some fun. I like it.

Yeah, sure, make a casino into one of the biggest online games where the majority of players are children.

Gambling their money in runescape will in no way encourage them to deposit real money to real online casinos, nor will they ever be more tempted to go into a real life casino.

JEBUS pagesus I can not help myself.

Will it ever get through your skull that there is no such thing as "gambling luck"?

And that even if you win at a casino you still lose? (Excluding poker vs other players)

When will you people get it? It's not rocket science.

But if you use the martingale system and double your bets every time you lose, it beats the system. You'll be infinitely wealthy!

I think it's still possible to be lucky which is what I think he was saying. Obviously you can't play the numbers of the game but it is still possible to get lucky and win 5 in a row just as it is possible to get unlucky and lose five in a row.

I don't think adding in-game casino's would work as that would add to the problem.

The only way I see fixing the economy would be jagex having mass ban waves of bots weekly or even daily in hopes of rising the cost of items due to a giant disruption in the supply.
