How do I use MTK?

Everyone says MTK is a great way to make some decent money daily, but I have no idea how to use it. I've got Grimy's spreadsheet on it, but that's all I know. Can anyone find/tell me a basic guide on how to use the system? The spreadsheet will tell me what to focus on, but using the system as a whole is what I need help with. Thanks in advance for the help.

1) Do the quests "Throne of Miscellania" and "Royal Trouble".

2) Talk to any of the people on the island you see gathering resources. Ask them how popular you are.

3) Gather resources until your approval rating is 100%. You will get a message. Fremminik Sea Boots 2 and up will speed this up.

4) Go up to the second floor of the Miscellania castle and talk to advisor Ghrim. An interface will show up (after some chat) which shows several resources, your total deposited cash and a stack of workers (represented by white bars).

5) Deposit 1.5m gp in the coffers.

6) Set 9 workers to gather maple logs by adjusting the bar next to the icon for maple logs. Set 6 workers to gather flax or coal. You can change these settings later, so don't worry too much about them.

7) Get your approval up every day or two after all this. Collect every week. Keep the total cash over 750k and approval as high as you care to.

It might be worthwhile to note that if you keep your approval up on a daily/regular basis but you don't collect very often - you're better off with 10 workers in maple.

Even if you raise approval every week, 10 Maples is still the best.

Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.

I use 10 maples and the rest for herbs.

The nests alone will guarantee profit and I hate buying herbs so I make myself an illusion of "free" herbs :)

/facepalm

If you were to place the workers on the best profit you would get more herblore exp by buying the ingredients for cheapest gp/xp.

Trolling by giving good advice since April 2011.

He did say illusion... it's one way to motivate yourself to train herblore, for example. For myself I notice that I'm more inclined to fish if I don't use a familiar. It's not efficient. But when it comes to getting fishing levels, it's better for me, and possibly for other people. In the same way, using MTK herbs over other herbs may stimulate people to use extreme potions because they feel 'free'.
