civie
So I've been trying to nail Jad, but my ranging seems not to succeed. Are there any tricks that are confirmed to be active still that can be used to, for example, not let the Healers come? If there are no tricks what-so-ever, what would be a good setup for me? Budget is 50m, of which ~26 is already spend on ArmaChest, Fury and ArcherRing (can of course sell them if needed). Got DClaws, no GSs, EE, no chaotics (nor willing to get them). LitterBug
What exactly are you having trouble with?If it's the prayer switching - unfortunately, there's not much else you can do but learn and get better at it
Dire_Wolf
Once i decided to test my Prayer switching and killed TzTok-Jad with just Deflect prayers. Healers never appeared. Jad's max hit is 98, and with that you can reflect back 9 damage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xfS6GUa3U8
Frede173
Are you meleeing up to Jad or are you ranging everything in the cave? Owner of a comp cape since February 11th 2012.

civie
My problem ain't the switching, that went better than I thought. My problem lies with my DPS. I currently use Rune XBow + Emerald Bolts (e) (until Jad's poisoned) and Diamond Bolts (e) (regular addy bolts for wave 1 through 62) I range everything, using Deflect magic as soon as the first 360 pops up. Frede173
DPS at Jad shouldn't be your main concern. What really matters is prayer switching and prayer points. While the fight will take a couple of minutes it's not worth the time trying to poison him. You waste an entire inventory slot and you'd probably end up doing more damage with diamonds/broad bolts. If you trap the 180s behind the rocks/360s most of the damage you take will come from the 90's (rangers) so you should always kill them as fast as possible. Your gear should focus on ranged offense and defense. An Armadyl chestplate and verac's skirt (cheap, great defense and prayer bonuses) should be enough. Shield slot isn't that important but you can bring a zammy book/Falador shield if you have one.EDIT: Forgot to mention DFS. Your spec weapon should be EE and not d claws. A free shark every 5 minutes beats killing a single monster a few seconds faster. Owner of a comp cape since February 11th 2012.
civie
My current setup is like this: Equipment:Head - Blessed CoifChest - Armadyl ChestplateLegs - Proselyte Legs (I hate the idea of degrading armour)Shield - DFS (Fully Charged)Cape - Ava's AlerterHands - Black D'hide Spiky VambracesFeet - Snakeskin boots (anything better out there?)Neck - Amulet of Fury (should I swap this out for Amulet of Ranging?)Ring - Archer's RingAura - Reverence Inventory:EE6x Saradomin Brew19x Super Restore Potion200-250x Diamond Bolts (e)10x Emerald Bolts (e) Each time I reached Jad I had at minimum 5 full brews and 12 full srests left. A) Swap out Emerald Bolts for BrewB) How about swapping Rune XBow w/ Addy bolts out for Karil's? This would let me use Soul Wars Cape (Alerter gives +4 ranged attack, SW gives +8 all defence and +12 prayer) Level 99's[hide]Mining level 99 achieved November 2010Smithing level 99 achieved February 2011Fishing level 99 achieved April 2011Cooking level 99 achieved May 2011[/hide]Goals[hide][/hide]Drops:Miscellanious: 1x Draconic Visage , 5x Focus Sight, 3x Abbysal Whip Offering Effigy Assistance in Herblore, Crafting. Frede173
Arma helm>Blessed coifArma chainskirt>Bandos tassets>Proselyte legsBarrow gloves>Black spiky vambsRanger boots>Snakeskin boots I can lend you one of the items if you'd like. Inventory looks fine. Just bring an extra brew instead of the emerald bolts.I don't have any experience with Karil's xbow so I can't really help you there. But the 19 sup restores should be more than enough to keep your prayer points high. And you hate having to repair degrading armour/weapons, right? ;) Owner of a comp cape since February 11th 2012. civie
If I could borrow Ranger boots that would be a great help. I'll probably buy the rest and sell them after I get the cape. LitterBug
Additionally, you cana.) Bring claws + EEE, on the last level (right before jad) you can hide and let your spec attack get to 100%Get Jad down to half health and just spec him for extra damage (or do it after healers stop respawning)b.) Bring ruby (es) - these hit for a [cabbage] ton but you should watch your health. If you ever decide to wait (and start training secondary skills - I can't stress how great overloads are)You can brew easily with them and kill the need for a bunch of super restores. Frede173
I've never liked the idea of bringing claws into the cave unless you intend to use them on Jad. Claw specing the 360s is quite dangerous as they easily can land 1 or 2 melee attacks on you before the animation is finished. The 90s only have 400 LP and the 180s will heal themselves (not by a lot but it can be annoying) if they get within melee range. As OP doesn't have Soul Split the healing from EE will probably prove more useful. LitterBug
I never said to use the claws on the 360s.You shouldn't be damaged at all really anyways (if you're ranging - or even meleeing for that matter) I said to bring the claws specifically for Jad, I've never really needed the very last extra space, and two claw specs on Jad when he's at low health is worth the one brew? you wouldn't be taking. Anyhow, if you're using up all your brew/restores/pray pots - you're probably doing something wrong.
LitterBug
From the OP's stats - he can't even get an EEE.If he wanted to - he would have to get to 92 herb (at which point - he should get some overloads w/ brews)Get like 9 or so - enough to last 3 trips (you probably won't need them much) The overloads get rid of the need for super restores, and the spaces saved by this would easily let you bring the dclaw to the task. If the OP is just going to bring an EE, it's probably a waste of space really.
Quyneax
Ruby bolts max at a neat 51 on Jad, really not worth it in my opinion because their max goes down fast. If you feel like you do not do enough damage, you can upgrade your weapon to Karil's crossbow or a handcannon if you feel good at firemaking, or even a Zaryte bow (which is not as good as the previous two but comparable to a rune crossbow). Void is another way to increase damage at the cost of defence. If you were to all-range the caves I would recommend the following (without a slayer task): Void range helmetAmulet of furyArmadyl chestplateElite void skirtRanger's bootsVoid glovesVoid deflectorArcher's ringSoul Wars cape/Alerter (22 or 10 prayer bonus)Rune crossbowBroad bolts/Rune bolts OR Swap out the void for Armadyl, and use Karil's crossbow/handcannon/Zaryte bow without a shield. You should be praying eagle eye at all times, and using (extreme) ranging potions.
