After a lot of slayer training I just got to 55 so I can now cast Slayer/Magic Dart. Do you reckon I will be able to take on the Brothers with the following equipment and stats?

Will you make it through? Probably yes. Will it be a decent money maker? Definitely no.

 

If you want to try it for kicks though, don't worry so much about maxing out mage attack. The melee brothers are all very weak to magic, so you can hit with low bonuses. Instead, get some melee defense so verac and guthan don't rip you apart.

 

Try it, enjoy, but don't think it's going to catapult you into wealth.

I thought it also affected the chance of getting Barrow Equipment. In any case what should I replace the DScimmy with? More food? more Ppots?

 

Edit: I am not planning to use it as a money maker, I just want to try my hand at Boss monters, if I do get a nice drop I will most likely sell it as money is a bit tight at the moment.

 

I also plan to pray against all brothers, so maybe using proselyte might be better....

if you plan to pray, use proselyte and just pray against them, you dont need any magic bonus. bring at least a super defence pot i would say for verac, nad maybe even a defensive melee leg to use whilst maging him. this would also make it easier to get kill count if you really wanted to

Much better than your previous setup, and yes, you will make some decent money off barrows if you use that method.

just keep prayer on and above 30 at all times and you should be fine. i would reccomend meleeing karil if you arent already because at your magic level hitting through his magic defence might take a while, especially in prosy

I wouldn't be too sure about that, karil has amazingly low mage defence for some reason.

 

Try maging him first, but if it isnt going well then try melee. However, i doubt that will be much better.

Don't keep prayer above 30. When your prayer is reduced to below zero, you actually have time to drink a dose before your protection shuts down.

That's a terrible idea, its a much larger risk at his combat level and you don't lose attack turns from drinking potions so there's no reason to not play it safe.

I got a funny story for you, I finally got to the Barrows yesterday..just to notice that I forgot my spade :wall:

You really need to get a KC of 2-3 it will help you break even with the death rune drops (usually anywhere from 30-80 a chest), bolt racks and chaos runes. Getting a KC of 0 will result in average chests of 1k or less where 3 KC will atleast net you 30k-80k a chest.

Update: I have just started the minigame and I have already kill Dharok, Kharil , Verac and Ashrim

Just returned from my first Barrow Trip, I got 23K in chaos runes, bolt racks a ppot and a super defence with 6 on the kill count

Try taking less food and more ppots. Aim for at least 2 trips before banking.

Yeah, I noticed that, for now I think I'll do the In search/aid of myrique questline so I have faster trips.

Are range and magic necessary for slayer? Or could someone with 88 str, 81 att, 71 def, 44 prayer do barrows using only melee?

You can melee the barrows brothers with a dragon scimitar, the question is if it's worth it.

 

With those melees, extreme potions, elite void, chaotic rapier, dragon defender, fury, dragon boots, imbued berserker ring and fire cape/Ardougne cloak 3/4 you could probably make decent money at Barrows. You do not have piety or turmoil, prayer potions don't restore very much, and your accuracy and max hit won't be great to start with. Each bit of gear you don't have will reduce gp/hr, and without a rapier I think your gp/hr would drop below that of gathering fungus or berries.

More runes etc is useful, especially since it can cut all costs for slayer dart. Well worth it IMO, for 2 or 3 kills.
