Master wand/Ahrim's wand + abs, virtus wand if you're wealthy of course. Ragefire+spellcaster or Virtus boots/gloves, virtus has higher prayer bonus. Farseer kite would be good, arcane too but it's rising pretty fast I think.

Ragefire + spellcaster for me, since I have ragefire and spellcaster is free. Why ABS over Chaotic? Also, arcane necklace or whisper?

Whisper provides 4.4% melee crit, not sure what you want to do with that while maging. Arcane stream is still the best necklace damage-wise at 4.9% crit. Hiss provides 4.4% and +2 prayer. Up to you if the ~.75% damage is worth it.

Abs is just cheaper than chaotic, chaotic should be a little more accurate but weapon tier doesn't affect damage for magic.

The attack difference is pretty huge, +120 attack would be more than 1.5% dps on bosses I think. Assuming +120 hit bonus (out of 800) is 13% of your total attack roll (120/916 with potted level, rest is multipliers), you need a pretty high accuracy for MW to be superior.

Uh forgot that master wand now has terrible accuracy due to the exponential curve. Virtus is probably 2-3x the hit bonus now.

Well, they increased the defence of most monsters today (I was splashing 3/4 of the time on glacors, using a chaotic staff), so accuracy might be a lot more important now.

Noticed this a lot whilst using Torag Hammer at QBD (I know, I dont have maul). Only just managed to sub ovl kill.

Master wand/Ahrim's wand are horribly bad for accuracy now, I'd not bother with those.

You'd have to get a Virtus wand if you want a decent 1h mage weapon now, and staffwise SoL/ABS/Chaotic are the way to go.

More combat formulae research

Turmoil boosts attack and drains defence. I tested a bit to try and identify what the multipliers are.

Turmoil drains defence over time, in the first test I waited 3 mins for it to drain fully before starting. There was no break between the first and second tests so before the second test started it had been draining for 13 minutes.

First test was steel dagger at 99 attack vs iron helm,plate,legs,shield at 99 defence.

In melee vs melee the attack bonus of the weapon is halved and the armour bonus is divided by 1.6. The results from this very test indicate that attack and defence levels are not affected by using the wrong style. I assume that attack rating= (weapon attack/2 + attack level)*prayer

and defence rating= (armour/1.6 +defence level)*prayer

Call the attack bonus of turmoil a and the defence drain d

So in this test attack rating= (99+81)a= 180a

Defence rating= (99+85)d= 184d

I hit 136 times and missed 115 times

I'm 95% sure the accuracy is in the region 0.5418±0.0616

Where A is attack rating and D is defence rating the formula for accuracy where A>D is

accuracy= (2A- D- 1)/(2A+2)

0.5418± 0.0616= (360a- 184d- 1)/(360a+ 2)

The second test was bronze dagger vs iron helm,plate,legs,shield

Defence rating is still 184d

Attack rating= (25+99)a= 124a

I hit 128 times and missed 123 times.

I'm 95% sure the accuracy is in the region 0.5100±0.0618

0.5100± 0.0618= (248a- 184d- 1)/(248a+ 2)

Let 0.5418± 0.0616= P± p

P± p= (360a- 184d- 1)/(360a+ 2)

Solving for 184d

184d= 360a- 1- 360Pa- 2P± (360ap+ 2p)

Let 0.5100± 0.0618= R± r

R± r= (248a- 184d- 1)/(248a+ 2)

Solving for 184d

184d= 248a- 1- 248Ra- 2R± (248ar+ 2r)

So we have that

360a- 1- 360Pa- 2P± (360ap+ 2p) = 248a- 1- 248Ra- 2R± (248ar+ 2r)

a(112- 360P+ 248R)± a(360p+ 248r)= 2P- 2R± (2r+2p)

I've done it in terms of P,p,R,r so that its easy to re-calculate if someone wanted more accurate values.

Using this equation to find a gives results around a=0.002 when it should be something like a=1.1

What are your thoughts?

Nice going! I'm still ~2k jade off the fourth ship :(. I do have two judges though :3.

@Thai: Used Wolfram Alpha:

0.5418 = (360a - 184d - 1)/(360a + 2)

d = 0.896478 a - 0.0113239

If a = 1.1, d = 0.97

0.5100 = (248a - 184d - 1)/(248a + 2)

d = 0.660435 a - 0.0109783

If a = 1.1, d = 0.72

So the a/d ratio seems to change. If I read your post right, it's supposed to be a constant? There must be something wrong with the formulas?

I'm guessing the armour rating is calculated simply by adding all armour pieces, then a multiplier for class, which could be (weighed) average of all worn armour, and a multiplier for defence level perhaps. You don't have 99 armour/accuracy when you're unarm(our)ed at 99 attack/defence, which you do have for strength. So I would change attack/defence to hit bonus/armour * attack/defence * prayer / 2/1.6.

But really, I don't have a clue :D.

@Latin/Meredith: Nice :D.

I have two bureaucrats and two judges, so going to need to fire those guys (or promote them to judges somehow :D)

All the voyages are killing me now though @@@@ have to level up my guys on low level story missions.

The interesting part about crew levelling is that their first voyage really rockets them through the levels, with or without Lotus Tint Specs:

For a Scythe voyage, your crew progress from 0 to 2.

For a Bowl voyage, your crew progress from 0 to 3.

That's with or without the specs, so the levelling curve must be something extremely progressive.

Also, just for fun, noticed that Judge of Dice seems to be some sort of administrator/bureaucrat-type position in the Eastern Lands:

Scythe - The Convict has been informed that a rare piece of a forgotten scroll is being sold off in an underground auction by Aloft Dagger's Judge of Dice. Help him raid the vault - where it's being stored - to claim it. His skills will prove vital for success.

EDIT : First Bowl voyage took a new Jade Golem from level 0 to 3, second Bowl voyage took it to level 4.

Enaid kindly helped me with testing accuracy.

Firstly this is to test how attack and defence change when using the wrong style

I used a rapier with 1521 attack bonus against enaid's 279 melee defence bonus.

I got 550 hits and 51 misses which is an accuracy of 0.915±0.022

If defence/attack level gets adjusted for using the wrong style too then

attack rating= 1521+(99*.5)= 1570

defence rating= 279+(99/3.2)= 309

This would give an accuracy of (2*1570- 309-1)/(2*1570+2)= 0.901 which is inside the confidence itnerval.

If the defence/attack level doesnt get adjusted

attack rating= 1521+99= 1620

defence rating= 279+99= 378

Giving an accuracy of (2*1620- 378- 1)/(2*1620+2)= 0.882 which is outside the confidence interval. So we can be 95% sure that defence

In fact the accuracy 0.882 is only within the 99.6% confidence interval so we can be 99.6% sure that defence level does get adjusted.

So the maths I did with the previous data was wrong.

In the first set where the chance of hitting is 0.5418±0.0616

Attack rating= (99/2+81)a= 130a

Defence rating= (99/1.6+85)d= 146d

0.5418±0.0616= (260a- 146d-1)/(260a+2)

Let the chance of hitting= P

P= (260a- 146d-1)/(260a+2)

-146d= (P-1)*260a+ 2P+ 1

The the 2nd set accuracy= 0.5100±0.0618

Attack rating= (99/2+25)=74a

Defence rating= (99/1.6+85)d= 146d

0.5100±0.0618= (148a- 146d-1)/(146a+2)

Let the chance of hitting= R

R= (148a- 146d-1)/(148a+2)

-146d= (R-1)*148a+ 2R+ 1

(P-1)*260a+ 2P+ 1= (R-1)*148a+ 2R+ 1

a= (R-P)/(130P- 74R- 56)

Putting in upper and lower limits for P and R still shows that a is less than 1 :mad:

Your sub tier 50 data is incorrect. It seems chainbodies/square shield/med helms all get a (1.05^-2) multiplier over their "full" counterparts, and the base*(1.05^(tier-10)) seems to hold for pretty much everything, with base being the armour value for the tier 10 "best" item for that slot (full helm not med helm etc) and bronze tier being half of tier 10.

One thing I can't figure out is how to incorporate iron and bronze tiers into the modifier for "med" items, they could just be oddly set though. rather nicely weapon accuracy ties into the formula neatly too. EDIT: [Just used a linear relationship based on the full base value. it works, eh.]

Only just realised this recently but helms are surprisingly bulky in eoc.

My sheet if anyone cares, though its probably whats on the rsof thread, though I figured it independently. https://docs.google....N0tlQ0prbUQ3enc

You mean the stats I have are wrong? Probably shouldn't have grabbed them off of rs wiki then.

Went to fool around with dual chaotic claws on the lumb dummies.

867 damage for mh claw

433 damage for oh claw

Havoc and Decimate are supposed to hit 100% of both weapon's damage but when tested the critical was 1733.

Implies that it doubles the offhand's damage, treating it like a standard tier 80 weapon, so the ability actually hits up to 200% (mh) weapon damage.

Massacre is supposed to hit 157% of both weapon's damage instantly, and an additional 157% over time (5 hit splats counted), somehow managed to get 907 on the bleed hit splat, which means 4535 damage from the bleed.

Using 1733 as both weapon's damage, Massacre actually hits 261% of both weapon's damage, or basically a whooping 522% of your mh weapon damage o_O

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.
