Use Avatars on Mobile

At the moment the forum displays profile pictures next to posts when viewing the forum on a mobile device. Is there any way to change it so that it displays the avatars you normally see when viewing the forum on a computer instead?

In an upcoming version of IPB profile pictures and avatars are merged into one. So we're not going to spend time working on this change when profile pictures won't exist in the near future :) I hope that's okay!

@tripsis -- Doesn't that seem kind of silly of IPB to eliminate the alternate choice for someone's profile versus someone's post avatar? I just don't see the point in doing that, even in a later version. Sure, my own two match right now. But what if I want to have them be different, yet the feature's been removed, thereby denying that ability? :huh:

Why should you have two different images as avatars, that feature sounds strange, it is like having two different photo's on your passport. So to me it makes sense to make one instead of two.

I would say you should take that up with IPB instead of us. It's not exactly our call is it :P And to develop a workaround at this time would likely be infeasible. (Don't quote me on that, just a personal assumption.)

Any chance we could ask our representative (Peter, right?) who's already got an account over there to take this up with IPB instead? My e-mail bin is buried in spam rather badly still, even though I'm trying to climb out of that, and I can't just go wandering around making accounts on the web. :oops:

You could ask him if you like via PM but honestly it takes only a few minutes to make a throwaway gmail account and do what you like.

Both serve the same meaning: allowing you to identify yourself. Avatar literary means your image/person online.

IPS have made it clear that the Photos/Avatars will be merging into one and that they won't be changing this behaviour in the future unless there's a huge majority of outcry against it.
