I'd go with a rune crossbow and broad bolts.

Hi if you're reading this you are amazing and I love you.

Maybe they'll release a bugless update for April Fools. That'd sure be a joke

If you're training Range through Slayer i would suggest Rune Darts or Black Knives. As you're still low combat and low Slayer you're going to be assigned monsters with virtually no defense (or at least a very low defense) so knives and/or darts would be perfect. Rune Crossbow would be better for monsters with a higher defense level (Metal/Black Dragons for one).

Like others have said, since you're a low slayer level, you'll be facing off against monsters with hardly any defense. For which reason we suggest steel darts.

However, while you get a higher slayer level, you'll want to use a rune crossbow with plain sapphire bolts(Cheaper and slightly stronger then mithril bolts) and switch to broad bolts when you're 55 slayer. Reasoning behind this is because as your slayer level gets higher, the monsters you face will be higher leveled and generally will have higher defense too. You'll be able to tell if you need a crossbow as you fight the monster. If you're hitting too many zeros on them, then it would be time to think about switching to a crossbow.

Also, if you have void + a deflector, use it. If not, then buy a focus sight and use it. Void without the deflector is marginally better than the focus sight due to higher bonuses, however this is only on low defense monsters. But if you have a deflector, it becomes better on all monsters due to the accuracy a armadyl/black hide body would give you(I am 99% sure of this, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I personally have range slayed on an account a while ago, and found it pretty enjoyable. It's a good break from the "ol' slash n' stab em' dead".

I'd use rune bolts, because they hit a lot higher than broad (well, about 9% higher) and since you retrieve most bolts anyway the cost difference is very small. You can fire at most 1200 bolts per hour, usually less, of which you lose about 20%, so let's say 200 bolts per hour lost. That's either about 15k or about 215k gp per hour lost from bolts. That may sound like a lot, but don't forget you'll save about 5 minutes every hour because you get xp that much faster, and you get the same amount of loot. If you were killing something worth 500k/hr with broad bolts, it'd be 500k in 55 minutes with runite bolts, the additional speed saving you bolts and time.

If you are using a ferocious ring it'd be best to use a very fast weapon to get the +40 damage bonus as often as you can. Karil's crossbow is great for this, as are adamant/rune knives and darts.

Chinning is good at any level now, a little more expensive than other methods but always well worth the cost.

Though if OP has the money to Chinchompa cannoning is probably more efficient. Chinning is apparently insane EXP at that monkey island zombie place though - friend got 99 overnight in something like three trips.

Use darts/knives on low level monsters as others have said.

Once you get your slayer level up you should really invest in cannoning. An excellent way of getting range + slayer up is using duradel and cannoning in smoke dungeon and whenever you can. Fast range and slayer xp.

EDIT: Make sure you do smoking kills asap for duradel and make sure to use rcbow with cannon to max your cannon accuracy
