I still reckon you should of brought a laptop and a Desktop) Well after this I will have 1/2 of that and this will only be my Junior Summer so if im not off traveling or getting ready for college I will try and save up some more cash and buy me a laptop to use. Hope you have fun assembling it all Smile Oh, dont forget to touch some metal before you go playing with your parts, wouldnt want to kill any of it now, would we Wink I'll make sure I touch some metal before I even open the packages >_<. Stuart_G
Tile would be good. Just some where that wont generate static so there isnt any risk of frying anything.

Ramses
It depends on what you plan to study at college as to what kind of computer you will want. I certanly recommend buying a pc though and not a laptop for the work involved. Dual core seems to be pretty much the way forward, maybe the 4400+ seems to be pretty good performance / value wise. If you are not planning to overclock, asus do good mobo's. Do not buy a case that comes with a psu, make sure you buy a seperate one, all the general stuff. what about the opporating system xp pro is like $

So I dont think I will really need Windows XP Professional. I actually wont have the money for all this for a little while and Windows Vista is suspost to come out in about three months I think so I might look into getting that. Yes I know you definatly should not get a new OS with the first release so I probably wont get Vista but its just something to think about. wahoo
if you purchase an OEM, please be advised that if you plan to replace the mobo or case at any time you must purchase a new licence.

Guest r3dh3adkid
Ok guys I was talking to a friend of mine last night and I asked him if it was illegal for me to borrow someone elses copy of windows XP and use their cd key and he says it isnt illegal as long as the person hasnt used the cd key more than three times. Is this true? If it is then he has a copy of Windows XP Professional he said I can use so that will save me from buying windows XP. If this is true and its not illegal then I wont have to buy that so I decided to use the 99.99 dollars that I had allowed to spend on XP to be spent on me a new PSU incase the one that comes with the case is DOA or burns out or something. Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W Power Supply 115/230 V TUV, UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC - Retail - $68.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817103937 I'm pretty sure thats a good. It has dual fans which is really nice I think. The only think I dont know is if it would fit into the case? Can someone please tell me if it can fit and how you determined that. Also, will I have to have a sound card to hook up my speakers?

The computer i'm typing this from is the Family computer so I cant just take their monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Pretty much the only things that I think could possibably be a problem right now are the Motherboard and the Memory. I could upgrade the Memory to 2GB sence i've saved alot of cash. I think that motherboard is a pretty good one but I dont know so any advice is welcome. Thanks!
runesmithie
Why do you want a router with USB wireless? You can get a much cheaper one with an ethernet connection to your computer, from the pictures on newegg, it looks like your mobo has a port for the ethernet cable. (I got my wireless router for ~$60, it's a WRT54GC) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam.

I could get one installed but I think its cheaper just to get the Wireless router and such.
