So this guy in my clan chat tries telling everyone that pest control (70kxp/hr) is faster than chinning (200kxp/hr), and then proceeds to insult the total levels of anyone who disagrees with him including me. Since when is my total level bad? You know you're a lowlife when you insult someone elses VIRTUAL character.. anyways, just because this guy got 99 ranged with pest control he seems to BELIEVE 100% that pest control is in fact FASTER THAN CHINNING. He also thinks that because he has 16m ranged exp he is always right about ranged, whereas i am 94 ranged and am obviously correct while he is wrong. People like this tick me off...anyways, I would say sorry for the rant but this is the rants forums after all :smile:

The worse thing than people with lots of experience thinking they know it all is the LOW levels that read things on a wiki once like that void is higher strength than bandos with chaotics, and take from that, that void is superior to bandos with a dragon dagger, and defend their (wrong) fact till death, ignoring all evidence and logic.

 

But yeah... I recently had an argument with a fairly high level that claims to be a 'pvm pro' that thought EEE was better at corp than BGS. Because at maxed stats, turmoil and overloads, "BGS has a 1/60 chance of hitting" A fact taken straight from the "I missed once so never again" pool of thought.

Its not the fastest way but its one of the cheapest ways i like doing soul wars cause honestly i like killing people without risk im not a pker neither will i be one on my main* but maybe he has his heart set on it because he just got 99 ranged with it and doesnt know the difference but either way he is a noob :P

Maybe his point was that, when you take into account the time it takes to gather the money for that many chins, PC would've gotten you to 99 faster. I don't know the rates or prices nowadays, so chins are probably still faster.

 

Either way, I love when people divert the argument into a battle of credibility... You know by doing that... you're revealing yourself to not be a very credible source. :unsure:

RS is addicting. There's also the fact that you can see with lots of TV shows - they love to hate it. People enjoy having something they can discuss with their friends about how much it sucks.

 

I can tell you one thing, if someone irl asked me if they should play RS, or were interested in it or something - I'd probably tell them not to. Lol.

 

Also, according to an article on cracked, which is a very reputable site where they only post information after they've done plenty of research into making sure it's true, humans actually use debate as a way to gain social superiority over someone. Therefore, our brains are wired so first we use the emotional side to come up with opinions, then use the logical side to "make it work" as it were. Our brains are wired so that winning a debate is more important then facts and logic.

Well, it might be our natural animalistic tendencies leaking through, but that doesn't make it justified. Our primal instincts can get in the way of the greater good, and as human beings, we also possess this strange compulsion to triumph over nature's faults. A big reason I was drawn to the forums is because I thought it was a bit unnatural how passionate some people can get over bullshit. Maybe if I were very persuasive, it would get people to consider their position. Nope, it usually just makes them feel uncomfortable with how the evidence is going, and so therefore they end up hating me. :P

A Runescape level does not translate to a level of mental maturity. Get over it, forget that noob

 

A mature person knows how to appreciate different opinions (yet others' ideas are not causing his stance to sway)

And different people have different tastes, a subjective viewpoint that they will probably not change - so argument does not work always. So is logic and fact
