Small questions about Graardor and K'ril

Powerfrog

Recommended Posts

You wear karils at bandos. I've always assumed this is because his range attack is mage based? So would ganodermic be the best tank body there?

K'ril. There are two setups i know, pray melee in mage gear, or pray mage in melee gear. Which is best? Including the new ganodermic equipment.

I've asked a few people why they wear karils at bandos and they say to tank the mage minion, which sounds bizzare to me, sacrificing a melee body for graardors hypothetical range attack in their minds, to tank a much weaker minion. I'm guessing it's originated from something else and they, like i, just wear it because everyone else does?

Magic defense does help with Graa, as for Kril, I belive tanking the magic hits is best, unless you own a divine/ chaotic kite/ torva, in whichcaseyou should protect from magic and tank melee.

Note that for bandos, the ranger minion has insane accuracy on Gandermic, and as far as I know, his attacks are magic based. For non tank, as you are praying range, and emphasise magic and melee defense, Ganodrmic is a brilliant choice.

TBH it depends on set ups really I think and how people want to react to change...

EDIT: As Chenw pointed out... I forgot the (i) part in the 2nd picture and therefore it's off slightly... So I dunno... People can decide which set up is better for them - it depends on what trade off you want to have - mage def or range def.

Kril is best taken like Ambler said - Praying melee, tanking mage. The only way that'd change is with Bandos and a Divine (or I've heard that), and like Torva etc.

You wear karils for the mage minion. The damage you take from that minion without it is significant enough to warrant armour to protect against it.

er... karil's top doesnt have strength. You have Berserker ring (i) on top but only a normal one on the bottom

I think the second option is much better, because the stats are better in every way except prayer, though the upkeep cost is higher, the initial capital required is also lower.

As tieszen said, magic defence is not for Graardor but for the mage minion. It's true he is much weaker, but if your magic defence is around 20, any level ~140 monster is going to rip through that.

Melee defence is useless or worse for the person using deflect melee. The added magic defence is really good though, not sure if it's best to use, but definitely a plus. My problem with cks + poncho however is that at the current prices, it's still going to cost you 100k/hr for the shield and about 500k/hr for the poncho. Which is just too much to be worth it. I can't see you getting an extra 10-15% kills per hour with the poncho.

For solos, maul > cls + shield, and I think that favours ktop.

For solos, maul > cls + shield, and I think that favours ktop.

Does that include: no turm, fire cape, or imbued ring?

If you're a lower level, the additional defence of a shield would be better, and without turmoil you need to preserve more health (you couldn't ss flash even if you used a maul). Fire cape/imbued rings don't matter much.

Thanks for the information guys, but i still can't see how karils would be better than a melee top unless you're solo. If there were 3 people in the room, you only take 1/3rd of the mage damage, while you take 100% of the range hits regardless of people in the room. Soon as graardor is dead, if minions are on you, you pray mage anyway, so it would actually be better to have greater melee/range defense at this point too.

So you tank the melee and ranger better, you tank graardors range attack better, and you only take mage damage while the boss is alive. (Not very long with 3 people)

I'm obviously talking about tanking, which you should always do when crashing, to get the first hit in.

Since when does anyone team bandos anymore? Nowhere in your posts did you include tnat information so of course we're going to assume its solo which Ktop is better for. Teaming is awful cash/xp (I've heard it can be ok for effigies) so that should have been noted in your original post.

Well every time i go to bandos, on none ls worlds, theres already someone there. Instead of spending half an hour looking for a free world i just compete with the guy already there, or hop once of twice if i get a comp cape torva steel titan opponent or something equally overpowered :P. Many people that have high level offensive properties do the same, it actually works out as considerably better money/effigies than a full solo, assuming you're decently above your opponent(s) and use the correct methods.

Also, not everyone is maxed. Bandos duo is a very good money maker for level 110~s that don't have access to alternatives that higher levels do.

Anyway. Even if it was 'obvious i meant for solo only', i'm bringing up the team issue now. So. Is karils still better for duo? How about trio?

For teams, bcp to squeeze that extra 2% dps out of your claw specs.
