January 24, 201214 yr After a long time I finally decided to do the Dwarf Cannon quest and thus got the right to have my very own cannon. Considering my low (40) ranged level how many cannonballs should I use to start slaying? I have 500 steel bars to be converted into cannonballs, I originally planed to sell all of them; but I am thinking that keeping some for myself was a better option. I was thinking on keeping about 500 cannonballs to start, though I am not sure...
January 24, 201214 yr If you want max efficiency, cannon everything. I don't know how many of the lower level slayer tasks can be cannoned, but at the upper levels it's around 1150 cballs/hr. Working on max and completionist capes. 2435/2475
January 24, 201214 yr You'll want a lot more than 500 to begin with. I'd have at least 2000 at all times, if not more. Once you get more accustomed to the cannon and use more, I'd keep a supply of 10,000. Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! It's been fun.[hide=Signature]R.I.P Billy Mays and <3 My Friend C.D.S 7/8/09 <360,816th to 99 Fletching 03/07/09|220,309th Person to be Able to Kill Dusties | 10 Year Cape on 12/20/14[/hide]
January 24, 201214 yr Author I think I'll start with 1k cannonballs to try and recover a bit of the costs.
January 24, 201214 yr Smelting cannonballs is a terrible idea though, unless you've got absolutely no other ways to earn money. Also, if you smelt them yourself, then sell all of them, because smelting them yourself implies that you value money too much to waste it on using the cannon, which is actually quite expensive.
January 24, 201214 yr Author Well money is tight and I have found than buying the runes, iron ore and coal from the GE I get about 500 profit per steel bar and quite a bit of XP, around 10 levels since I've started to do so.
January 24, 201214 yr At your smithing level, cannonballs might actually not be bad for training (don't take my word for it) and if you feel like afking it's always an option. For cannoning, you will get more damage (= killls and xp = loot and xp) if you cannon something with low defence. So I'd start with those. A bunch of slayer things sadly can't be cannoned but most other tasks are weak to it. 500 cannonballs can be fired in as little as 5 minutes. January 24, 201214 yr unless you are really wealthy,I wouldn't recommend cannoning at such low lvls, that money will be of more use in other skills. For example 70 prayer for piety will help you like a cannon but much much cheaper Mamiću odlazi!
January 24, 201214 yr Based on my experience; getting 99 slayer requires just under 300,000 cannonballs which is 133 mil at current prices. You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.
