Yes...An obstacle that is relatively easy to remove...and its not like the Combine are doing anything else important...

And Ravenholm is futile? That makes very little sense... 'Thank god we took Oslo! I would hate to have to fight that cottage on its own!'

...If only they had some sort of Weapon which Destroyed Massive Areas...and didn't subsequently spawn killer zombies that attacked civilisation.

So 100% loyal...yet need propaganda...Plot hole 9001.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Red Faction 1 > HL & HL2 In my opinion. It had a much more intriguing plot in my opinion.

"Don't get in my face, don't invade my space. I'll put you in your place.

I'll only tell you once, I'll never tell you twice. This is me being nice." ~Porcelain and the Tramps

The combines actually had their hands full with headcrabs and antlions, why attack a small kid who says you're mean when you've got two beasts clawing at your legs?

As for Ravenholm, father Grigory was the priest, with a priest that proficient with a shotgun, imagine the fighters.

The propaganda in Nova prospect was because that was a prison, it was for the prisoners.

I hate Mass Effect beyond belief. And i dislike Red Faction.. I don't know why specifically, i think it had something to do with the combat.

I never played the Mass Effect games, but I hear they were very well made?

They have their hands full with creatures that they created, and that they use to attack stuff with...And creatures that live under the sand in deserts...

'OMG! The chair is on fire! Quick, lets close all the windows to stop draughts and then take the peas off the boil.'

Its just silliness.

As for Ravenholm, father Grigory was the priest, with a priest that proficient with a shotgun, imagine the fighters.

Yes...Clearly a single gun toting man could kill bazzilions of people...Though, personally, Atom Bombs?

The propaganda in Nova prospect was because that was a prison, it was for the prisoners.
So he was telling the prisoners that he was unhappy with the guards?

Mass Effect was so awesome, nice linear story, but choices that effect the outcome.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

They didn't create headcrabs, they took advantage of them and mutated them.

I'm not sure if the combines have nukes, anyways you don't nuke your closest neighbour.

And please elaborate on the propaganda.

Ok...So they are fighting something which they are also spreading...Which amounts to the same thing.

Yes...Why would they have nukes? Perhaps because Humans have Nukes? And MOAB, if you wanted to avoid the radation...

And yes you do nuke your closest neighbour if that neighbour happens to be your enemy...and you happen to have come to the conclusion that you don't want to waste troops on it.

Propaganda:

[hide]

I have been asked to say a few words to the transhuman arm of Sector Seventeen Overwatch, concerning recent successes in containing members of the resistance Science Team.

Let me say up front that I regret having to temper my heartfelt congratulations with a strong measure of disappointment. But I wouldn't be doing my duty as your Administrator if I didn't pass along the message I have received from our Benefactors.

The capture of Eli Vance is an event of major significance, make no mistake. And while it's true that conceivably we could have taken him at almost any time in the last several years, the manner of his capture may prove to have unexpected benefits. It cannot have gone unnoticed by all resistance members that Doctor Vance's capture coincided with the act of giving shelter to Gordon Freeman. This might cause other resistance members to think twice before harboring Doctor Freeman. It might cause them to question his allegiance; even prompt some to turn him out, or turn him over to our cause. However, we cannot count on such developments. Doctor Freeman's reputation is such that other desperate renegades are likely to grant him a great deal of license in the spirit of spreading general chaos and terror.

This brings me to the one note of disappointment I must echo from our Benefactors. Obviously I am not on the ground to closely command or second-guess the dedicated forces of the Overwatch, but this does not mean I can shirk responsibility for recent lapses and even outright failures on their part. I have been severely questioned about these shortcomings, and now must put the question to you: How could one man have slipped through your force's fingers time and time again? How is it possible? This is not some agent provocateur or highly trained assassin we are discussing. Gordon Freeman is a theoretical physicist who had hardly earned the distinction of his Ph.D. at the time of the Black Mesa Incident. I have good reason to believe that in the intervening years, he was in a state that precluded further development of covert skills. The man you have consistently failed to slow, let alone capture, is by all standards simply that--an ordinary man. How can you have failed to apprehend him? Well...I will leave the upbraiding for another time, to the extent it proves necessary. Now is the moment to redeem yourselves. If the transhuman forces are to prove themselves an indispensable augmentation to the Combine Overwatch, they will have to earn the privilege. I'm sure I don't have to remind you that the alternative, if you can call it that, is total extinction - in union with all the other unworthy branches of the species. Let's not allow it to come to that. I have done my best to convince our Benefactors that you are the finest the species has to offer. So far they have accepted my argument, but without concrete evidence to back it up, my words sound increasingly hollow even to me. The burden of proof is on you. As is the consequence of failure. I'll just leave it at that.}}

WE CAN PLAY VINDICTUS TOGETHER IEY!

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!

Anywho, Red Faction Guerrilla, I know for a fact, is not about the story. It's about blowing the crud out of EVERYTHING. I turned a car into an IED so powerful that it shoots several tons of metal hundreds of feet into the air through a series of reinforced concrete floors. And that's not the half of it.

On that note:

Hmmmm, Red Faction: Armageddon looks good....But I think they are pushing the concept too far.

I mean, Red Faction was always about fighting Earth and such...Now we are fighting monsters from the deep?

Hopefully it will be awesome though.

They're stupid for using headcrabs, everyone knows that, but if they stoped using them then people would realize they had a reason to do so and dubt their invincibillity.

If you nukes your neighbour then you nuke yourself, C17 and Ravenholm aren't far apart.

Combines still have feelings, they just lack personality, you still tell your dog if it did good or bad, even if you know it'd always love you, no matter what. And again, Breen's not exactly an advisor either.

I think the point Archi is trying to make is because they're super advanced beings that took over Earth cause of a whim, why do they care so much about Earth, they drain all the resources by the time you're playing, they've doomed the human race and have made a seemingly endless amount of soldiers.

If I were them I'd glass the planet.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

Yeah, I look forward to seeing how they explain the last war and how Earth fits into everything Archi. In RFG you essentially threw off the Earth Defense Force when you killed their leaders, blew up their giant flagship, destroyed their Martian property, and sent them into bankruptcy. It was never Earth as a whole that was the enemy in the first place.

Also, I recall reading somewhere that the original Red Faction alluded to research being done on some of the concepts to be seen in Armageddon, I think something to do with the aliens but I couldn't swear to it. I do know that they intend to continue the original story, I think they sort of got caught up in the (admittedly remarkable) technology behind the game in RFG.

So....Massive plot hole.

Nuke, air-bomb, nerve gas, bomb the crap out of....They are all basically the same thing...And C17 to Ravenholm is...A Kilometer? Maybe two? Shall we say?

A tactical nuke could take it out without significant risk.

Its not about love...its about them doing their job...If they are already trying their hardest(As they are blindly loyal they have nothing holding them back) then threatening them and such is worthless.

Its like telling a brick it is bad for breaking your window...Implying Breen is insane...Or the Trans-Humans are not entirely trusted.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Not a plothole, headcrabs were intended as an indicator of their actual weakness, something which is backed up by the ruined state of for example Nova Prospect

A tactical nuke has a far wider range than one kilometer. But I don't think they could make one, they've still not used any explosive device larger than a heli-bomb... unless you count the citadel.

The combine soldiers are capable of learning, just not disobediance. And Breen's not insane, but let's just say he's not exactly a scientist either, he's a failed shrink with Napoleon's complex.
