what is everyone doing in the Arboretum?

Whenever I teleport to darkmeyer to chop that bloodwood tree (yes i do that..) I always see someone in the Arboretum (for those who aren't familiar with that word - the place where the contraption that is the blisterwood tree resides).

 

I haven't brought myself to inspect what they're doing, but i have bad feeling about it. what could it be? . Maybe they are all doing the quest, but i find that unlikely. If that's not the cause, why would they be chopping blisterwood?

 

Anyone have any ideas?

could be for the bloodwood tree as well. but i dont really know why they would be sticking around for long periods of time. perhaps they are doing the task where you need 200 vyre corpses. not super familiar with the place to be honest.

when you teleport to darkmeyer you end up in the hallway between the door to the Arboretum, and the door to outside. Someone looking to chop the bloodwood tree doesn't end up in the Arboretum, no way, no how.

interesting - i will have to inspect the cb levels of such players in the future. I really do think it would be quite odd for so many people to be using them instead of rune darts. but perhaps it is a combination of people there for different purposes. if I do recall, a substantial amount of time in the quest takes place there.

I agree seeing as I do that to train range on vyrelords/vyreladys.

I could see people training ranged on the vyres with stakes because of the costant high hits. Maybe they are people who dont want to cannon or shell out the cash for chins?

If you have 500 vyres burned, it's one of the fastest methods for range training, after chinning and maybe working with a cannon. It's definitely faster than rune darts ;)

I can't imagine it being much faster than even frost dragons (and of course not worth it), given the time it takes to gather a decent amount of stakes. It's cheap going perhaps, but the loot isn't exactly top-notch.

But the main priority is to train range, not worry about the loot. But even so, you can train and profit without wasting any cash at all.

If you want to train ranged with no money, you go frosts and then chin. Frosts are up to 100k xp/hr (but that's maxed), and at 2m/hr profit an hour at frosts pays for an hour chinning - 250k xp/hr break-even average (also at max).
