Deletion
Hi, I'm 103 Dg and I recently got a Blood Necklace drop so I bound that over my plate (Binds now: Primal Baxe, Hood and BNeck). I know the generally a primal plate is seen as a better bind than a hood, however, I'm only 85 defence (Maxed combat apart from that). So my question is: For me, being 85 defence, is a hood or a Gorgonite plate a more efficient bind? I can survive fine with only a hood (As I did up to 100 Dg) if that matters. If it helps I generally dg with randoms on 67/77 (I don't often Dg so it isn't worth joining a clan). If you have any more questions please ask. Thanks
pulli23
Considering primal plate isn't that much better than hood (I honestly won't hunt for a plate). And considering that with lower defense evading instead of tanking becomes even more important, I'd say: no gorgonite plate is a lot worse than the hood. Maybe EoC will change this, but then again it's terribly "easy" to make this plate/get it made. First they came to fishingand I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing Then they came to the yewsand I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews Then they came for the oresand I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak out for me. Vezon Dash
I thought that the blood necklace functioned better with a platebody. I'm probably wrong though.
Deletion
It does indeed, and Primal Plate is a much better bind with Blood Necklace than a Hood. However my survivability/ability to path would be a lot lower with Gorg compared to Primal so hence I asked.
Quyneax
Considering primal plate isn't that much better than hoodThat's not true. Primal plate is much, much more comfortable in almost every situation. Prom plate is also better than hood for the most part (afaik). Gorg is sort of borderline... Most of the time is spent doing puzzles or rushing paths in normal dungeons, not really clearing gds. In that case no hood means you're hit by anything & everything walking around. When I still had no hood, yet promethium platebody I immediately saw my survivability shoot up when I got the hood, and in effect even the floor clear time did grow (consider emote & lever rooms). I'm not certain about the health regen of the necklace, but I can't believe it is enough to keep you alive over a prolonged time. One mage in your room and you're defenseless with lowered melee accuracy unless you're taking your hood off before rooms like that and removing it when the SSH effect is nullified. Hoods aren't bad binds once you get used to them. I'd take a primal plate over a hood, but prom is iffy. I guess it depends on your preference, really. homer205
A hood is also more useful if everyone else in the team has one. Though those teams aren't the best.
Teddmn
Yeah, it's defintiely to preference. I say go with what makes you more comfortable. Play with the hood for a while and see if you end up taking a lot of damage or not. If you find you are using up more food than you can get, try doing a couple with a plate on with the hood in your inventory. See if that works out any better for you. With the combat update coming, it might be prudent to keep all of the rares and adjust later on.
Deletion
I kind of asked because I have had a hood ever since I started dging, and have never dged without. I did 50-100 with a hood and only have had a plate for 100-103 so I'm quite used to being without a plate. I think I might just keep hood for now (at least until EoC), unless I decide to max defence beforehand where I will trade hood for a Primal Plate. The things that made me decide to keep it were: 1) I'm used to using a hood (although I don't think it would take long to get reasonably ok with a plate. 2) Hoods may become more/less useful after EoC update. But since they're kind of rare it will be useful to have one. However I do quite like the idea of smithing myself a plate at the start of a dg (since I'm generally with teams that aren't the best they won't mind a wasted minute or so) and taking off the hood to see how it goes.
