Rinoa
this is my first attempt at rs art. I drew this completely from scratch and it took me 3 hours, which included perfecting the base figure then turning it into a rs character. The person on the left is my model and the pic on the right is what i did. please rate and give c/c. update: i'm not sure how to do shading, i looking at a post on dithering, but that just confused me. Can anyone help me with learning shading? Also, it is supossed to look like a sprite and not all fancy and real looking. finished? any more suggestions? Rinoa
yeah, i'm having issues getting the head to look right. Also, the reason this took me so long is I'm a major perfectionist and won't stop until it looks perfect to me (with the exception of the head of course). And this is done in Paint if you can't tell. Not that i could expect more from some1 with a sig like that: | GFX PRO | PIXEL DESIGNER | | RS ADDICT | RICH FOR LIFE | | F2P FOR LIFE| but i actualy bumped in some nice and useful C/C of yours recently so maybe it's just a bad day...dunno. Still I don't realy think that girl or any1 else, even spending on it a whole day, deserves to be the target of some1's fun and wanna-be-cool habits. Expecialy when, sorry, i fail to remember any of the works that should make those guys "PRO" at gfx... Back on topic the pic is very basic. 2 many straight lines that make it look very "plastic". also the SuperDeformed look is wrong i think. That's simply a normal body with huge head. SD usualy implies to rework on the whole body shape/proportions too... There's also no attempt to shade it. That's a pity. Keep it up.
Lowgravity
Just redo the head smaller, I really like the body it has a kind of sprite-ey feeling, go for some shading and make the cape longer and less wide :P keep going! Good for a first. Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. But...I never will be as 1337 as you. :(
Plumquet
5/10. It needs some work. Just practice.
misterxman
Yeah you definetely need to try some shading. It may be your style, but seems too stiff, try making it less straight, more rounded and relax, gl with newer work. cupcake
paper and a pencil are your new buddies now Pratice and draft it on paper first....then sketch it on Paint. If you can't get it right on paper, how are you suppose to do anything good on MS paint? If it took you 3 hours, I bet you took most of the time being clueless don't know what to do... and it is hard not to suspect you don't know what you want looks like. No way it took you 3 hours to do so little. If you've plan it, I bet it will only take you only an hour maximum.

Rinoa
what do guys think of my finished pic. I tried shading did it turn out good enough?
knives669
I think it looks nice, but a little one dimensional. I think the door in the back ground could be a little bigger. Your character is just a bit taller than the door. And if it's any consolation, I have problems with shading myself. Just practice, practice, practice! Laps9
I realy like the finished character, not the background though. Maybe make a completely new background that fits with the character? put him in jail Then i'll just wait for him to drop the e-soap
susta99
well, its not bad for a first piece of art, in any case it shouldnt have taken 3 hours to do that. Anyway, my first piece i showed here got MEGA...and i mean BIG TIME flamed because it wasn̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâôt shaded. So, all you have to do is try it first in pencil and paper, try shading it there. press harder for the darker parts and lighter for the umm.. lighter parts (obvious). Then, when its on the machine, just look for colors and choose darker and lighter shades and see where on the pic it would look best.
