How do I maximize my xp/hr while soloing. I somewhat remember doing small rooms up until the rooms after frozen and doing mediums after that. Am I missing out on anything?

Finally on here to update that I have officially quit! It's been fun.

I just don't want to have to hassle with teams. I will only play in short spurts(20-40 minutes) and I don't want 15-30 minutes to try and find a team.

EDIT: Also, if I have to randomly go, I don't want to affect any of the other players in a negative way.

I personally soloed smalls for 90% of my DGing (1-97)

Med's seem to be a waste of time in my opinion.

Is there any particular reason why you're choosing to solo?

If you don't have halfway intelligent people to dungeon with, w77 has about a 5:4:-50 ratio of idiot teams:competent teams:"omgwtfbbq 15 minute large". If you can do a c6 small in 5-10 minutes it's going to be at the very least equivalent experience, if not better.

You also don't have to deal with annoying things such as fighting for food, standing around for 20 minutes waiting on them to try and make a potion for the final door in the dungeon only to find out afterwards that no one could make a strong enough pot anyway, soloing gd while everyone else is mining/fishing/etc. in the exact same room.

fighting for food

Only the people who need the food fight for it. I've never had this problem, even in world 114 with randoms... Even before becoming an 'efficiency freak' with DGS. Learning survival strategies removes the need for much food.

only to find out afterwards that no one could make a strong enough pot

There'll never be a door you can't pot to, as far as I know... But I've only DGed max, or close to. Even so, there's DGSweeper for potion queries. ;). /shamelessselfpromotion.

soloing gd while everyone else is mining/fishing/etc

Again, I think I've been in maybe two dungeons where someone actually stopped to cook.

People on these forums have shown that it's entirely possible to finish floors with randoms from dungeoneering worlds with great times.

Not even close to 5:5 larges, even with randoms.

It's definitely possible to get doors you can't pot to, not for you maxscapers though. (94 is the minimum level to be able to pot to any door). And it shouldn't take 20 minutes of standing around anyway, just check peoples stats if you don't trust them, that takes like a minute.

As for soloing, so long as you're aware it's slower experience and you've got qualitative reasons for choosing it, then I don't see the problem with choosing it, unfortunately I can't advise as to the size specifics though.

Edit: if you wanted to combine your dungeoneering with other skills then you should fish/woodcut/burn all the resources you come across during the floor, they're pretty good experience in those skills, though slowing down your dungeoneering experience it's better if you value them all equally.

I'm not talking about w114. Someone like OP (who is 54 dung) or myself (84) is not going to be getting into 95% of w114 teams, or if we do will likely get kicked the second it's realized that we're not 110+ or whatever the w114 minimum is.

World 77, it's all absolutely true, and having just ground out 2m for rapier in less than a week w77 randoms you will see the things I listed pretty much every single dungeon.

@Stev, I just finished grinding 99 construction and I'm looking to start dg'ing a lot. So, I was wondering if you had any advice on where to find good groups/chats/forums/etc. It feels like a waste of time/xp standing at w77 looking for randoms every time.

Sorry to entrude gandalf.

I either solo dg, do it with very close friends (or normally not at all) simply because I'd be kicked if I did it with randoms or "pros". My playing style consists of disappearing at random for periods of time, and general "noobyness".

Not everyone is geared up to use the efficient methods.

I'm a solo'er too, currently 90 dg. I've thought about joining clans and the like, I tried, but it's daunting to me. Sometimes I want to be efficient, sometimes I'm bumming around. Hard to find people who are always on the same page. Solo xp is not good at all, but you know, if you compare it to 99 rc and slayer back in the day it's not that bad . I have the impression that there are more solo'ers than you'd think even in the higher levels, but that we're a pretty silent community. I actually stumbled on a solo dg wiki a few days ago, but I can't find it now. Edit: found. http://dungeoneering...iki/Solo_Theory

Might also be good to know, Jagex announced a few weeks ago that they're looking into changing solo xp in 2013. May come hand in hand with the change of EoC. Personally, I'm going to get 99 solo and then wait for the update for 120.

Anyway, my method: I always do smalls. Some people advise meds, but they can be a bit unmanageable with the higher chance of doors you need to pot for. If you stumble on a difficult med with a lot of hard rooms to clear, things get frustrating (and lengthy) very quickly.

I usually do 15 (when somewhat efficient) to 25 min (when a bum) small dungeons, on average 3 per hour. I rush 1-25 C1 (between 3 and 5 minutes per dungeon), 26-45 C6. Not sure if this is the best method, but it works for me.
